Enzo is currently undergoing a 14 day assessment and will be available for re-homing from 09/08/17. Applications are welcome during the assessment period.
Please put in an application in the first instance if you are interested in Enzo. Approved applications will be home checked.
If you are interested in him we suggest that you read the information on our website about re-homing an ex-breeding dog
Enzo has come to us from a breeder. He has been used for breeding through his life so far and hasn’t yet learned how to be a ‘proper’ dog. He is a gorgeous little thing, but very wary of people and other dogs at the moment. He is hand shy and quite skittish if you approach him, but if you pick him up to take him outside or to the car he rests very calmly in your arms and seems to quite enjoy having his ears tickled. He is starting to enjoy having a little walk and a sniff of the neighbourhood, but is clearly not used to being taken for a walk so at the moment you just have to take it slowly, and let him stop and assess the situation every now and then. He is a little bit underweight at the moment but I’m sure this will soon change as he enjoys his food and with exercise will develop some muscle tone.
Although he is shy he is interested in watching us and our resident dog – he likes to lie in the kitchen doorway when I’m cooking and keep an eye on me and lie on the floor next to my chair when we’re eating. When we’re out on a walk he likes to see where Dylan (our dog) is and follow behind at his own pace.
He sleeps downstairs with our dog at night and on the first night there wasn’t a sound from him and no mess in the morning. The second night he barked a little bit first thing in the morning but didn’t seem to want anything in particular. He isn’t keen to go out into the garden yet and has had a couple of toilet training accidents in the house, but I’m sure he will improve as he gets to know our routine.
Enzo is a very sweet, loveable boy and I really don’t think it will be long before his confidence builds as he is doing well already.
We will update his thread regularly as we get to know him and post lots more photos of this handsome boy.29th July 2017 at 6:22 pm #382
This is what poor little Enzo looked like when he first came into Four Paws’ care:
But after a trip to Four Paws volunteer Claire Hyde’s grooming parlour (Classic Canine Cuts in Blackwood) he looked smart and puppy like:
We had a bit of a break through this morning. I was at the top of the garden with Dylan and suddenly Enzo appeared – he’d managed to get up the steps for the first time, clever boy!1st August 2017 at 3:58 pm #401
Little Enzo has started enjoying his walks now and is getting braver every day. This morning a dog walker with a huge gang of dogs came past and Enzo wasn’t scared at all. He was very polite and sniffed the little dogs and was sniffed by the big dogs. He particularly likes small lady dogs, but that’s no surprise given his history! He’s being neutered on Thursday however so that will put an end to his puppy producing days.
He really got the hang of walking on grass this morning too and trotted across the field very happily.
He’s rather exhausted now though!3rd August 2017 at 11:25 am #402
Lovely Enzo is making such good progress and is getting really brave on walks now.
Here he is saying hello to a new friend:
Being a very good boy in the car:
and going off lead in Heath Park – trotting along behind us and enjoying the sights and smells (he hasn’t got the hang of tree roots yet though!)

He’s such a dear little boy who is gaining in confidence every day. He’s at the vet today being neutered and everyone at the vets fell in love with him too.8th August 2017 at 11:10 am #429
Lovely Enzo is really starting to enjoy life. He’s building up some stamina and loves his walks. He is starting to go out into the garden to sit in the sun (or cloud) and we’ve started to see that lovely tail wagging when we come down in the morning.
(Yes that is Dylan in the background with an apple in his mouth!)
Enzo is looking for a quiet home and patient owners who can help him blossom. He is such a sweet little boy and making such fabulous progress in foster. He’s almost house trained now, quiet in the house, sleeps all night and is beginning to trust us enough to take treats from our hands (well, chicken anyway!) and come to us for ear tickles. He’s very easy to take for a walk and loves to meet other dogs. Someone is going to be so lucky to adopt this fabulous little boy!11th August 2017 at 6:52 pm #444
Brave boy Enzo is getting more adventurous every day. He is still wary of meeting new people, but if they crouch down and offer him a bit of chicken he gets much braver! He’s sociable with all dogs, but definitely prefers smaller dogs, particularly ones that aren’t too speedy. He doesn’t try to keep up with Dylan, and can’t understand why he wants to go swimming all the time:
He will have a bit of a paddle and a drink if it’s hot though:
Everywhere we go with Enzo someone seems to fall in love with him, but so far we haven’t found the perfect new home for him. If you think you could find space in your life for this delightful, easygoing little boy, who really deserves to be loved and looked after and who will repay you with loyalty and companionship, please put in an application.
