After the sad loss of our beloved Black Lab(DUSTY) earlier in the year
we were desperate to fill a huge void and began looking at all the rescue
sites as we had decided we did not want a puppy but would rather home a
rescue dog.A few days later we discovere POLLY and BONNIE on the Four Paws site.
After visiting Jo and an enjoyable afternoon where we met both dogs,we came home
with not one but two dogs-we felt that we couldnt separate them as they had originally
been found wandering together.
The dogs travelled well with us on the long journey back to Staffordshire and settled in at home very quickly, and are even accepted by our 15 year old cat whose sofa place they stole. After a very busy day it was so nice to see them settled so quickly, it was as if they had lived here for ever. In the first few days of arrival at there new home, the pair were initially very quiet but very soon began to display ther original characters both of which are very diverse.
Bonnie who we believe to be the older of the pair, was at first very introvert but with plently of T.L.C. has become much more confident and is almost inseparable from my wife, following her everywhere and is always in her bed in the hallway ready to follow us up the stairs to bed every night where she will only settle at the side of the bed.
Polly - well what can I say about Polly Dog! A Character much apart from Bonnie in personality but never very far apart from each other. She is a larger than life character who is a gentle and well behaved girl who loves to romp in the Moorlands close to our home but is always checking to see that Bonnie is close to hand.
After a good walk and doggy tea time, the pair generally curl up together either by the fire or on the sofa (cat permitting).
Polly is also very affectionate with our older daughter Leah, and she finds it difficult to settle if Leah is not home. This usually results in Polly sleeping on Leah's bed untill she returns.
The Dogs have not only settled well but have brought us a great amount of satisfaction both from the joy they give us and knowing that between us and FOUR PAWS we gave them another chance in life on that has proved sucsesful.
