Here we go again
Just been out with Lady & Bosley doing a spot of fundraising for Marie Curie for the big daffodil campaign for March - they were brilliant at attracting people but I discovered how much more difficult it is to negotiate 2 dogs, a collection tin and a tray of daffodil pins round your neck and stay upright LOL
-
nice work Penny! We are home. Happy dog is going straight in the bath :-) Bizarre in that we are not really any further forward in knowing why he has the one pocket of persistent infection in his lung, but hoping the new antibiotic regime works. All shattered. Pixel cat and Sparky gave lots of kisses to each other in the front garden as soon as Sparky got out of the car :D
-
Welcome home Mr Sparky, you must all be relieved. Hope the new antibiotics sort out the infection.
-
:) :) :) Yippee, welcome home Sparky, I bet you're enjoying all the fuss (that's wot good doglets get ;)), really hoping you'll soon be all better :-*
-
Well done Penn and welcome home Sparky hope everything goes well on the new tabs
-
Lots of hugs Sparky, hope you all have a less stressful time ahead xx
-
Sparky boy you are back where you belong with Pixel cat and all your twolegs xxxx
-

I guess you get the whole picture by having gone to Langford - hope the new regimen works x
-
Big kisses for the brave little soldier :-* :-* glad you are back where you belong angel.gif
-
just heard from Langford re Sparky's cultures. He's got bacterial pneumonia as a result of severe Bordetella bronchiseptica.
New antibiotics on the way, but if he doesn't respond they want to repeat the whole hospital scan/op procedure :-\
He had lost a suprising amount of weight in hospital, and since coming home has been eating hardly anything. Feel a bit ??? by it at the moment. He is really clingy too, wants to be in my lap the whole time (he still thinks he is this big
(https://scontent-a-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1/960165_10151640999280469_2080620819_n.jpg))
-
Aw Sparky it's no fun being a medical mystery is it?, you must be wondering what on earth is happening but don't worry babes as the lovely vets will soon have you up, running & eating really soon. :-*
-
Everything crossed for you little guy, big hugs xx
-
Aww Lyd! We are sending enough {{hugs}} to smother you all and hoping you don't have to come down my neck of the woods again :p
-
Looks like he shrunk in the wash. Try him with a little bit of sheba cat food poor boy he must be feeling so unwell
-
Poor Sparky, having a rough time of it, hope the new meds work out for you xxx
-
good news re Wilf - bloods show he's not lost platelets but just waiting on urine results (which aren't a huge issue anyway as its more about making sure antibiotics are working) so he's now starting to taper them off - little by little every 2 weeks we need a blood test before each reduction in dose regimen.
even better he's put on a kilo in weight
so while we're not there yet its all heading in the right direction, which is positive.
-
Well done Wilf....great to hear some good news xxx
-
:)Great news for you Wilf, you'll soon be all better :-*
-
Good news for you and Wilf xxx
-
Sad news though re Ed cat (he's 16 at the moment) - his thyroid really needs removing but he's not well enough to do it plus Steve could feel quite enlarged kidneys (possibly tumours) so he feels Ed's life is nearly over - am not going to treat him other than give thyroid pills to help in some way but we agreed that its Ed's time now. He's still eating and drinking a little but he's like a walking skeleton now and as long as he's comfortable then I'll just take it a day at a time with him.
-
Pen you get through one problem then another come along poor Ed
-
Hi Penny - glad Wilf is on the mend but sorry about Ed it's such a hard decision to have to make but you will make the right one when the time comes x
-
More bad, sad news - a close family friend (for past 30 odd years) who was very close to my mum (in fact he never got over my mum's death) died today - my sister just rang to tell me - she's not sure what happened exactly but he collapsed on the bus and paramedics tried to revive him. My sis had to go and identify him (we were his closest family) and she said it was awful as he still had all the stuff on him from paramedics as coroner needed it like this.
RIP Gerry - you were a very good friend to our family - hope you're now at peace
-
:( Aw Penny I'm so sorry to hear your news for today, I hope Ed enjoys whatever time he has left with you, he's a fantastic age but we never want to let them go.
Gerry sounds a great person to have known, RIP Gerry.xx
-
Yes despite not being related to us all Gerry was like a grandad to my nieces and we were all the family he never had. It really broke him up over my mum's death and don't think he was the same afterwards
-
So sorry, my dear friend. Your plate is overfull at the moment with tough things and events that are nearly too hard to cope with. I know how useless the normal "keep strong" messages are when it just keeps on coming. So just hang in there and hug the cats, cockers and sprockers that need you so much, no matter what the rest of the world slings at you. Thinking of you.
A xxxxx
-
Awww Pen you really are having a rough time.
Ed has lived to a ripe old age, none of my cats seem to make past 12!
Give him love and cuddles til the time comes {hugs}
RIP Gerry, you don't need to be blood to be family.
-
Massive hugs Penny x
-
Paul just rang me to ask what the weather is like here (Blackwood area), bootiful I said, sun shining, patio doors open, dogs sunbathing, he said in Splott it's soooo foggy & freezing cold :o
-

It's fab here in Upper Cwmbran too Maggie. Shamus is on his favourite spot, upside down with is paws in the air, sunning his belly! It looks misty down towards the town though.
-
It's also beautiful here in Tredegar, doors and windows are open and the dogs are sunning themselves :-) x
-
Hmmppphhhhh it's freezing with no sign of the sun here >:(

was foggy 1st thing but its beautiful and sunny all morning here in north Cardiff
-
No sun here and it's cold have central heating on :-[
-
Shamus enjoying the sun!

-
Well done Shamus glad you could put 'a smile' on Rhys' face - wish we had sunshine ::)
-
Sun beginning to crack through the clouds here but chilly ???
-
Still booootiful here :P
-
still lovely here - just been out walking the dogs in it
-
It never rains but it pours it seems
Steve thinks Roobs has a bone tumour on her nose which we can't do anything about - had hoped when I took her to see him yesterday that it was an abscess but no such luck. There's an outside chance it could be bone trauma as she bangs her head a lot out and about but its a difficult one to also investigate as well so I now just have to be glad she's with me each day now and take things a day at a time with Ruby and Wilf and Ed cat
-
How is Sparky getting on Lydia...any improvement since he went onto the strong anti-biotics?
-
Oh Penny, it really is never ending at the moment isn't it :( Are there any tests they can do for Ruby to check what's going on or is it a waiting game?
-
Oh Penny, it really is never ending at the moment isn't it :( Are there any tests they can do for Ruby to check what's going on or is it a waiting game?
I get the impression its a waiting game as am a bit stuck not knowing what to do. Her heart problem is well managed on meds as she easily comes walking with the others no matter how far we go. As Steve said any surgery would mean destroying part of her face. If it was anywhere else then I would risk surgery.
-
Aww Penny. All our most comforting vibes and wishes are winging their way to you and yours. May all 3 old timers surprise us with their zest for life.xx
-
Poor Roobs, such a lovely girl. Will be saying a prayer for her xx
-
They say things come in threes, well my third has happen :(
In December the Freezer packed up after 14 years loyal service.
Last week the kettle lid stopped closing after a pathetic 3 moths service.
And now the most missed of all our faithful dishwasher has died after 14 years. It was sudden with no warning. :'(
We now all have to learn how to wash up manually >:(
-
I've had my three :(
Made redundant on the Monday, Oscar my foster cracked his knee on the Saturday and Zoe my oldest Yorkie has joint problems :( Things can only get better.
Have an interview tomorrow, Oscar's fit and well and Barclays have admitted miss selling me PPI, 15 years ago.....drinks are on me ;D
-
Good luck Marina!! I'm sure who ever it is will jump to employ you.
Oh Aud, we couldn't cope without a dishwasher I'm afraid, I really thought we could but having made a Sunday dinner and facing the pile of washing up I decided a dishwasher was an essential not a nice to have!!
Big hugs Penny you really are going through the mill at the moment, its comforting to know though that Wilf Ruby and Ed are happily just getting on with it knowing how much you love them. x
-
:( Wow Penny your lot are going through it lately, good job you're not far from the vets, it's heartbreaking when their poorly, let's hope it'll be nothing serious, we wish there was a magical wand we could wave or even just explain to them what's going on, Roobs has been a real trooper with all she's been through, lots of hugs & healing to you all.xx
-
Super force for all the poorlies to get better. x
Sparky is much improved. He still gets tired out fairly easily, but then he's not been excercised for over 3 months - nearly a quarter of his life!
We took him to Cosmeston today and he loved it - a very happy doglet indeed runnign around with his new posh indestructable (and floatable!) ball.
He bravely went in to rescue it a couple of times.
Only one cringe moment, the kids and Lann were lying on the ground peering into one of the conservation ponds, looking at tadpoles, frog and toad spawn and frogs. Sparky obv. thought they'd lost something, and 'helped' by diving straight in....about the same point we spotted the 'no dogs in this area' sign :-[
-
Well done for helping Sparky ^-^ ^-^ so glad to hear you are much better xx
-
Go Sparky!! ................. they should've written the sign in dog if they wanted it to be obeyed!! ;)
-
:) Me thinks someone should have added to the sign "Except Sparky" cos he's been such a poorly brave boy, glad you enjoyed your adventure & feeling lots better :-*
-
Great news.. glad to hear Sparky is improving :)
-
When nasty cyclists shout at me because Betsy has wandered onto the cycle lane I say 'I'm sorry, my dog hasn't learnt to read yet!' Sparky is obviously still learning too ;D
-
:) Nice one Judy ;)
-
My sister rang earlier and told me that our family friend who died last week he suffered a distraction burglary 2 days before (they stole his jewelry, which we know would've upset him a great deal) - the police got involved in his death as they wanted to make sure the 2 weren't linked + how awful my sis and BIL had to remove G's valuable stuff from his flat hours after he died in case they came back as they may strike again if they hear he'd died. How awful
-
Aw Penny how sad is that, there's some real lowlife out there!!!!!!!!! >:(
-
Poor Man these people should be ashamed of them selves and prisoned for a long time
-
One lovely thing that my sister asked me if it was OK to do last night that she was putting 'step-dad' to me and her and grand dad to my nieces on service programme and obituary - as he was in many ways even though he wasn't officially
-
Awww Penny, that's so lovely. I'm positive he would be very proud xx
-
:) Family isn't always blood relatives, Gerry would be really chuffed to see that you thought of him as family.xxxxx
-
LOL I don't think that couple who were sitting peacefully on the bench overlooking the park just now appreciated a certain cocker spangle (Lady of course) jumping up and plonking herself in the middle of them on the bench as she wanted a cuddle - don't blame them as she'd just been swimming in the river ooops. Lady kept doing the same when we were down the river but they didn't mind as they had a dog with them anyway - she attaches herself as if she just belongs with whoever is there bless her.
-
:-* Aw lady what are you like?............ you've got "looking cute" down to a fine art ;) :-*
-
We found a baby Pidgeon in our front garden earlier, it looked fine but wouldn't fly so I put him in a dog crate, we could see he was ringed & found it had a locall phone number, the owner lived just up the street & collected it straight away ;D, all thoughts were going through my mind - I was going to ring the emergency vets as to should & I give him water or what if he's shock :o
-
I found a ringed pigeon a couple of yrs back on my delivery round in cardiff, got a number to call and the bird was from my home town of Keynsham Bristol, and it was his prize bird who's won a few races and that had been missing for 3 weeks. It's name was King Carrot lol looked nothing like a carrot to me lol I got £20 and a bottle of wine for taking if in and feeding him.
Partner said he would prob be on someone's plate now for getting lost :o
-
Its seems more FP dogs are becoming famous - Harry (http://forum.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/index.php/topic,4411.0.html) who was rehomed by his foster carer, Caroline, has just been filming for a future Dr Who episode (medieval theme)
-
Wow that is fantastic they should interview him he could tell them all about FP
-
:) :) :) I hope Four Paws Animal Rescue was mentioned on his CV ;) :-*
-
Poppy was to be filming Dr Who last Monday, but due to her only being spayed the fri before, we had to turn it down, I was well gutted x
-
Ah that's a shame Rena. I've emailed Harry's owner Caroline to see if we can get a bit of publicity from it :)
-
Poppy's role was to go over to a "stranger" they picked her up and she licked them, which I know she would have done lol, so was a proper little part hehe
I know that FP was mentioned on Rockwoods site, but they have updated it lately, so not sure it's still there, this is the link to the site
http://www.rockwoodanimals.com
They are also who we do our dog training with, and where (if she keeps improving as she) Poppy is hoped to join their display team, as she loves agility.
-
Ruby, Oscar & Ben has gone to Aunty Claires today for their "Summer cut", now I'm waiting for my daughter & 2 grandchildren to arrive............... it's like a blinking railway station here ;) :-*
-
;D Please note the number of Yorkies in residence........... yep I've failed again!!!!!!!!!, Benjy is a 10yr old Yorkie with a bus pass ;), I expect most of you know how much I luvs the oldies & this boy is "vewy speshal", it's as if he's always lived here, I'll TRY & get piccies of them all together ;).
I've also changed that Tom is at the Bridge, he passed 18 months ago but I couldn't change it until now, it's as if he's given me his blessing to do it angel.gif.
-
Well done Maggie!!! Benjy you are one lucky boy because our Maggie is "vewy Speshal" herself! xxx
-
Wonderful news for you Benjy, living out the rest of your life with family Maggie....Tom send you to Maggie as he knew you would be well looked after xx
-
Congratulations Maggie!! xx
-
Brilliant news Maggie x
-
Lucky Benjy to have Auntie Maggie to look after him forever ;D. He couldn't have picked a better Mama. Love you Maggie xxx
-
You said last Saturday you thought you might as you loved him soooooooo much well done you what a lucky boy angel.gif
-
We took Betsy on the Brecon mountain railway today & she loved it! I thought she might be nervous getting on, but she just stepped up amongst all the other people with confidence, she also let lots of little children pet her & was so very gentle with them. I am very proud of her :D
-
She has come a very long way well done
-
She really has! Chatted briefly to a lovely young family, the children were very sweet, polite & very respectful of Betsy, good to see. The Mum said she was going to check out the FP's website :D
-
:-* Well done Betsy for being a brave girl & spreading the word about Four Paws :-*
-
Well the Jackpot in the Pounds4Poundies Bonus Ball is increasing with our 3rd Rollover on the trot :)
Someone is going to be very lucky soon :D

Same here in Pontypridd :( and I hate it :'(
*Edit I also hate predictive text! Lol

We have only had a light shower in Bridgend
-
Missed everyone, we've been all rotten with a horrible fluey thing, bleuch.
So, had a heart attack on Thursday, got a letter from Langford. 'Please pay the (insert amount of thousands) by next week, Petplan have closed the claim due to not receiving correct information'.
Baffled as we've been ringing both petplan and pdsa vets regularly to check all info is being sent/received.
Check online with petplan, sure enough, claim is showing as 'closed due to insuffiecient information'.
Now we do not have credit cards, or savings which is why we have the best insurance we can, so at this point, I was reduced to a vomiting, tearful panic-mess.
I finally calmed down enough to call petplan, and it turns out that Sparky's claim had been submitted twice by Langofrd. It had been paid that day, but the other claim had (naturally) been closed as it was a duplicate. Heart attack anyone? Am phoning Langford tomorrow, but think I've lost at least 5 years off my life expectancy. Sparky's doing well, we're working on getting his fitness levels back up (all those months of no excercise) and he's still on the strongest antibiotics known to man for another few weeks.
-
Phew what a relief for the Nizbillians, great to hear sparky on the mend....happy easter to you all xx
-
Happy Easter to you too! (And all the FP massive) - xxx
-
That was scary I would have been the same glad after the heat attach everything is ok they just don't think they could have explained it in the letter why it was cancelled. Breath again, glad Sparkey is on the up
-
:o Blimey Lydia you can do without that kind of news !!!!!!!!!!!, let's hope it's finally sorted, glad Sparky is getting better & enjoying life again, Happy Easter get well soon hugs for you all. xxxxxxxxxx
-
Phew thank goodness for all that Lydia - mind you I think someone else has just done this to me re another vet claim but thankfully the amount is quite minimal so am not worried about it
-
What a horrible thing to happen. >:( >:( Why can't organizations understand that what is a small, administrative process to them is a matter of heart-stopping, nauseous misery to others? I hope Langford has the grace to apologize properly for putting you through such panic. Great news about little Sparky though. Pictures needed soon please for those of us too far away to see the real thing.
-
Wow Lydia just reading that was heart stopping! Glad to hear that wee man is feeling better :D
A belated Happy Easter everyone!
Dx
-
My daughter & grand-daughter Eve (aged 9yrs) came visiting today & Eve has sold some more of the jewellery she makes ........ another £4.13 for the Four Paws pot, thank you sweetheart for helping the doglets.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
Awwww bless her x
-
You are brilliant Eve well done clever girl
-
We're (friends of hailey park & south wales orienteering club) doing an event next week (10 May) for the Cardiff walking festival and thought it might make a fun fundraiser for four paws as well in the future - its a fun orienteering event over 4-8 km depending on route you want to take and you have to find markers (it goes through forest farm radyr woods and Hailey Park) - its quite easy and you can take dogs with you as well - I could even see if we could use the warden's centre at forest farm for a base (it has toilets and a small kitchen - but dogs not allowed in centre though (but plenty of room to put gazebos up)
-
Sounds interesting Penny.
-
Lovely long walk across part of the North Cardiff Ridgeway today (took us about 5 hours) - 1st time since my knee op - it was one of walks organised by the Cardiff park rangers - a few who had dogs on the same walk with us knew of four paws pretty well as one of them was a vet nurse at Dinas who'd looked after Marina's foster that broke his leg. Sun eventually came out and we could see across the channel to Somerset and Cardiff Bay and Flatholm.
Only took 3 of the dogs who were as embarrassing as always on a group walk - mind you at lunch I attempted to grab Lady's lead as she'd gone off for a wander to see what everyone else was having for lunch and problem was I missed and grabbed a handful of runny sheep poo instead LOL then Wilf thought he'd cover his blooming face in it.
-
:) I know I shouldn't laugh Penny but there's never a dull moment with your troup around ;)xxxxxxxx
-
oh joy they're even pooing what looks like runny sheep poo today
-
Yep, the joys of having doglets ;)xxxxxxxxx
-
Yuck
-
Wilf also took a shine to a lovely choc lab (male) on the walk yesterday and kept trying to hump him (think the excitement of the day got to him) - the joys of walking with embarrassing dogs - the other 3 dogs on the walk (collieX, lab, and terrier) behaved impeccably
-
;D I had 2 lovely Thank You cards today off Edward & Richard ( Yorkie boys), one for me & one for Four Paws thanking us for their new sister Fran (was Tootsie) :-* :-*
-
How lovely :)
-
so is the new dog called Fran now Maggie LOL
I have inflamed nerves in my shoulder so have numb fingertips on one hand ouch
-
:) Yep she's Frances but called Fran, I spoke to Anne on Thurday & she's doing really well :-*
Ouch Pen, let's hope it's better soon.xxxxx
-
Poor Wilf he's decided he wants to be ill today - not sure what but he's off his food and is quiet - not a vet job thank goodness but needs keeping an eye on him - mind you he probably knows I got paid on friday and want to spend some of it on a new waterproof jacket for walking as my other one has holes in it. Mind you my laptop knows this as well as the hardware scan just told me I have a warning for the hard drive which can go any minute so I keep backing up on to the external hard drive until I can decide what to do.
-
Just wanted to say hi :) to everyone....I've really missed you all. For my sake I've had to stay off the forum, not being able to help at all just made me feel worse, incredibly guilty and useless.I'm so sorry to have let FP's down but I had to get me sorted first.
Loads of things have changed in my life but we seem to be back on track. I'm not sure whether many of you know but we lost Kizzy between Christmas and the New Year which was and still is, hard.
Now I've got lots of catching up to do! Xx

-
Well done for being strong Penny ;)xxxxxxx
-
What will power I lost
-
:) we "failed" with Benjy yorkie about 2 months ago, 10yrs old, very few teefs but very nimble & weighs 3.5kg......... we luvs him as he's such a character :-*
-
our little girl cat has gone awol - last saw her at breakfast yesterday morning :(
She has only missed one meal since we adopted her in 2010 and that was because she was locked in next doors garage. I've checked all the imediate neighoburs, and we've put notes through the houses in the 4 surrounding streets, posted on petlost sites, gumtree and every Facebook local group I know of. Kids are both crying in bed. I hate not knowing.
This happened with Pixel recently (another lady had been feeding him increasinbgly regularly while we had builders and think she had thought she would 'adopt' him. He was found via facebook, and all worked out ok.
Before that we found our lovely Jones Cat dead at the side of the road when we were out leafletting houses to see if anyone had seen him.
Horrible, just want her home.
-
Hope she comes home soon it is so worrying sending you all big hugs
-
Check garden sheds + wheelie bins, hope you find her soon.
-
:'( Aw Lydia I hope she is found/comes home soon, it's heartbreaking not knowing, BIG hugs for you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
Its so awful when they go missing
Daisy cat was awol as well since yesterday and wasn't even around when the dogs got fed at 5am which is unusual but even though I'd checked the shed then she was asleep in there at 8 so am happy she's back
-
still nowt. Tiger was absolutely howling earlier after calling himself hoarse for her :'(
It is so crap not knowing. We had been discussing the possibility of one of the kittens (as they have dream mix of ginge-bits and oriental bits) the morning we last saw her, and Tiger thought we'd made her sad and run away. They are doing that weird mix of kid matter of fact 'she could be dead' and sentimental 'she is the best cat EVER and I will DIE if she doesn't come home'.
I just want to know what's happened to her.
-
A couple of years ago my daughters cat went missing, she only went outside when my daughter was home & didn't stray from the garden., my daughter was distraught! 5 days later she just strolled in! she was very thirsty & a little dirty but otherwise fine, we think she had gotten shut in a shed or garage, maybe after someone had cut the grass & been let out when they next went in there. Don't give up hope, cats can get in to all sorts of places x
-
:'( Aw Lydia how awful, as you say, you just want to know where she is.xxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
Hope she comes home soon Lydia xx
-
Years ago, after covering the entire neighbourhood with posters and leafleting every house, I found my missing cat in my garden. She was lousy with fleas and had obviously been living somewhere else for the intervening two weeks. I think I just made it too hot for the new 'owners' to keep her. Don't give up hope. You've done all the right things and it is far too early to despair. Thinking of you - not knowing is hell on earth. x
-
Any news on Sugar Lydia?xxxxxx
-
Nothing at all. :-( we are all so upset, even Pixel is looking lost with her not here.
-
:'( I'm soooo sorry Lydia, all we want is to know but not knowing is cruel, more hugs coming for you all.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
I keep looking in to see if your little cat has turned up, I can only imagine how worried you must be, xxx

The horrible bit is there is nothing I can say to the kids to comfort them really. We had serious chats about one of the kitty's Penny has (we'd discussed her before Sugar went awol) but the smalls decided that if Sugar came home they would think we didn't care and everyone thinks it's best to wait a bit. 'Tis horrible.
-
It must be horrible you have done everything you can I feel so sorry for you all huge hugs
-
Sorry there's no news still Lyd, the not knowing must be unbearable :( Sending hugs to you all xx
-
Aw Lyd, I really feel for you all, sending cwtches and buckets full of hope xxxxx

We have quite a big thunderstorm going on at the moment, Betsy is snoring away, oblivious! So different to the quivering wreck she was when she experienced her first thunderstorm with us just over 2 years ago, she's come a long way bless her :)
-
She has come a long way what a difference love and understanding do for these poor dogs well done Judy and family for showing her life is great
-
Thanks, I am very proud of Betsy, she was such a fearful dog when she came to us & so any improvement is fantastic! We love her so much, it's a pleasure to help her overcome anything that scares her, she's so worth it & she give so much more in return :)
-
;D ;D ;D ;D Say's it all eh Judy, it's times like this that we can see how far they've come, good girl Betsy :-*
-
Anyone see Wales This Week tonight - it showed the horses and ponies dumped on Blackwood commons and other commons in South Wales where they were starving and in need of help
-
We saw a huge herd of wild ponies near Caerphilly once - was very odd to see.
I am also very, very excited about a certain patchwork kitty cat coming to live here :D
-
Last yr I was up manmeol common helping out with the hay feeds, was sooo sad seeing the skinny horses, and dead horses, in the coldest part of it, a foal was born, and he was a lucky one, he was so cold he was hunched up, no grass for mum to eat, but with every body that helped, he got through it, and was taken, with mum to a rescue. I think it's so sad seeing this, and it's heart breaking after all the hard work ppl have put in to going up and feeding them etc, for them to be culled :'(
-
Most people have milk or papers delivered to them on Sunday morning - not us. Some person!!! >:( left their staffie tied up inside our gates. Dogs went out at 7.00 a.m. all normal. An hour later they went out again and they were play barking with a young staffie boy. They didn't even leave a note with his name, but why would they!!!!
You just can't believe people can do this. He is a lovely friendly male staffie, we think about 18 months old. He was totally confused and whimpering. All he wanted to do was cwtch.
We have taken him to the pound and of course he wasn't chipped. He just jumped in the car and just laid there until we took him out the other end. Why have a dog and just decide to get rid of it. It makes us so mad. The only good thing is that they brought him to us and not just dumped him.
-
Oh that is terrible. Thank god he had you two to see to him, but what selfish b×#@! £ s. How can anyone do it?
-
so sad but so demoralising
-
These people are heartless I would love to do the same to them
-
:'( :'( :'( :'( Soooo heartless but at least "They" left him with someone they knew would take good care of him & didn't dump him somewhere he may not have been found. I believe in Karma.
-
Poor boy :( It's hard to understand the mentality of some people >:(
I suppose if there is a positive, it's that they didn't advertise him free to good home and risk him being used for bait or fighting and they left him with you guys knowing that you would do the right thing.
-
Poor boy :( It's hard to understand the mentality of some people >:(
I agree - and people really believe they are doing the right thing sometimes
-
Amy came round to groom Lady for me tonight and while I was out saying goodbye to her the norty little Lady managed to get on top of the filing cabinet to nick the empty can of dog food I'd put up there at the back of it temporarily while I went outside - Lady may look beautiful but she sure is no lady LOL
-
Typical cocker. Midnight looks like butter would not melt but were food is concerned she is as crafty as they all are
-
LOL - that's why I also say that cockers are hooligans in cute clothing
-
I love that phrase Pennyxxxxxxxxxx
-
I made it up because people always think cockers look so beautiful so they can't be norty (or when they are they think they're really bad, which is sad - because they can't imagine anything so pretty can be so norty so they must be really bad but if they knew them properly they'd understand)
I have 6 kitteny things running round the house getting into all sorts of mischief at the moment
-
Brain pickage please! I am wanting to take Tiger and Kitty to the seaside for a night or two. Lann isn't very good at the mo so will stay home minding the zoo. Anyone have some cheap and cheerful places? I don't drive but can get a lift/train most places. Not camping as cannot manage the behemoth tent and equip. On my own....
-
Have you had a look a Wowcher deals and things like that
-
Yep all seems to be spa type stuff or couples things. I just want them to be able to splash in the sea for a day or two
-
I could do with a spa voucher for Betsy, she rolled in so much fox poop this morning it looked like I was taking a different dog home with me!! ::). I drove home with the car window fully open & had to stick my head out every time we stopped!! Washed her with baby shampoo when we got home (it seems to work) & now she's sleeping like butter wouldn't melt! bless her :D
-
tomato ketchup helps as well re fox poo- put it on the before you shampoo (obviously rinse of ketchup before you shampoo)
-
I'm a bit weird - I have a phobia of tomato ketchup :-[. I can't look at it, smell it, touch it, well, you get the idea :winktongue: I can actually cope better with the fox poop! I bought some shampoo from p@h which was great, but I find baby shampoo is just as good & smells really nice, I did double check that it was ok to use on dogs.
-
Just wanted to say many thanks for sending me a card acknowledging my donation.Lots of love from Poppet and mummy Lilian. I am resting on the settee next to mum waiting for one of mum's friends to come over and make a fuss of me and my big brother Dillon.xx
-
You're very welcome Lilian, thank you for your support :) angel.gif
-
:'( I've been to the vets with Ruby (wetting her bed) & she's a diabetic, she has to go in for the day tomorrow to further assess her & start her on Insulin which she'll need twice a day.
-
Poor Ruby sending huge hugs maggie
-
Sorry to hear about Ruby, she's lucky to have you Maggie xx
-
:( Ruby seems very quiet tonight, didn't eat her dinner or some of my toast......... that worries us as she,s usually "Miss Greedy GUTS"
-
Ruby is very confused with her lifestyle changing so dramatically :-[, she has to have her insulin & food 10am/10pm & no treats, it was awful giving the others their dinner at 5.30 & she had to stay in the kitchen :(, I know I'm being cruel to be kind but she's 10 now & I feel like the worlds worst Mamma :'(, my mother had diabetes (she died 30 years ago) & I can remember how I thought it's such a cruel illness but at least she understood all about it.
-
Oh Maggie, that must be tough :(
Is it going always going to be that way now or is it just while she gets onto an even keel? It always amazes me how quickly dogs adapt to new routines so hopefully it will get easier. Sending you hugs xx
-
Interesting point Fran, I'd assume it's for life but I will ask the vet on Monday :)
-
So sorry Maggie - am sure you'll all adjust soon once it becomes routine (I used to set my calendar alarm on my mobile - it can be set up to go off daily without having to put details in every day - when I had to give Roobs her eye meds to make sure she got them at about the right time each day, twice a day as they were important re her eye pressure at the time).
-
Oh yes Penny, after Roobs eye treatment the insulin bit is a doddle as I give it to her the same times as Oscars inhaler, it's a good job she's had her eyes done as it's one less complication we don't have to worry about.
It's more about food times, the others are fed about 5pm & of course Roobs can't have any or treats of any sort in between ( & she's very food orientated-greedy ;)) :(, she does need to loose weight so it'll be interesting to see how it goes, we've also been talking about having her knee caps in her back legs done as they're slipping, poor girl has had one thing after the other :-[
-
awww bless her - its horrid getting old for all of us
Bosley is so funny as he was such a quite scaredy pup but he is brilliant at meet & greets - he has a habit of leaning into people (all of his now 17kg) and staring up at them then flopping on his back for them to stroke his belly or he likes to dance around people if he's in a giddy mood but for a year old dog with working genes he's very chilled about it all.
To think Maggie its his gotcha day around about now
-
Blimey Penny where's that year gone?, he was such a poorly boy when we picked him up from the pound & could feel him struggling to breathe through the blanket :'( :-*, it's been a battle health wise but he's such a fantastic boy now & it's been awesome watching him grow :-*
-
We've just got home from our holiday in Tavistock, both dogs loved it and Ava was very well behaved
-
Glad you all had a great time recharged the batteries and chilled
-
Do we have a stall at the barking mad show in llanciach fawr on Monday? Was wondering because if like to bring Nimya along if we do x
-
No we don't unfortunately Leane. How's she doing this morning?
-
:o :o :o I was in the garden & I nearly touched an Elephant Hawk caterpillar (I Googled it)......... I don't know who was the most shocked!!!!!!!!!!, it was soooooooo beautiful/ugly......... Mother Nature at her best :)
-
Had to Google, what a striking looking thing.
-
There are some fascinating ones + day flying ones durign the day that some may mistake for butterflies
I took 5x 6/7 year olds with 2 mums (and Lady of course) over to our meadow the other day to do a bug hunt - 1st thing I found was a beautiful spider (put it in the jar so everyone could inspect it) - it was a thing of beauty
-
::) Just thought I'd share this moment of merriment/madness that occured, I was just about to start the dreary job of mopping through when Bryan Adams came on the radio singing Summer of 69, mop in left hand, right hand doing the "actions", singing to the dogs ::)................. men in white coats coming as you can see down into my house & neighbours opposite are new ;)
-
Lol I can just imagine that! Xxx
-
It is to late for the men in white coats Maggie
-
I just hope Quo singing Rocking all over the world doesn't come on as I'm having a sit down ;)
-
:( Aw well, my son is off to the "Beach Party" at Cardiff Bay, he's the drummer in a band called The Rocking Sinners (rock a billy) & they have a gig there............ I don't think he's played under a brolly before ;), have a good un lads. xxxxxxxxx
-
I hope they are under cover
-
:( Poor Ruby is in the wars again, I got up at 8.30 to find Roobs right eye was white (it was fine last night), straight on to the vets who wanted her in straight away, I can't remember what they said it is :-[, but it's not a cataract & nothing to do with her diabetes, no scratches on the surface, she's on Maxitrol & will take her back tomorrow.
-
Maggie you are not having a good time lately sending hugs hugs hope Ruby is better tomorroow
-
Thanks Aunty Julie, Roobs doesn't seem bothered about her eye :), vet said to watch for any sign of pain/irritation but she's her normal happy girl :-*
-
hope its better soon - hopefully your vet will keep monitioring it very closely (I saw Steve daily when Roobs had a thorn in her eye) and refer you if need be - is she still being seen by John Mould after her cataract op
I was told by eye vet hospital that any issues with eyes is an emergency so good your vet saw you quickly
-
;D Just been to the vets with her, her eye is almost back to normal ;D, one more dose of Maxitrol tonight & watch her then she'll go back a week tomorrow for her Diabetes & they'll check her eye again, we saw John 2 weeks ago & she was fine, he doesn't want to see her for a year now ;D.xx
-
That all sounds really positive Maggie :) I love John, he's such a nice man angel.gif
-
Glad thing are sounding better do they know what caused it
-
;D Just been to the vets with her, her eye is almost back to normal ;D, one more dose of Maxitrol tonight & watch her then she'll go back a week tomorrow for her Diabetes & they'll check her eye again, we saw John 2 weeks ago & she was fine, he doesn't want to see her for a year now ;D.xx
I would ring him up if it happens again even though he said in a year's time especially as you only saw him 2 weeks ago - I was told to ring direct to eye clinic 24/7 for advice with Roobs rather than see my own vet 1st (had many a conversation with John at 10 at night - you ring eye clinic leave message then they ring you back within the hour and thankfully it was always John on call when I rang)
-
It was possibly a bump on her head as the damage is behind her eye, if it doesn't clear completely or comes back I'll ring John.
-
he may just tell you to see your own vet but at least you'll know (if you ring the eye clinic out of hours you may end up speaking to another vet but still worth it)
hope this is it now
-
I wish it was Penny but she needs her back knees doing, it was next on the list but obviously will have to wait poor girl :(.
-
Nothing too serious (I hope) but Peppa went for her physio referral today and is now awaiting an appointment to have x-rays and probing one morning next week as she has 2 swollen elbows, a stiff left hip and tender metatarsals in the right rear foot!
Little wonder she is looking all stiff and wonky.
Worst case scenario is joint disease best is early onset arthritis. Nothing is not an option - shame.
Will keep you updated and YES she will be in panniers at the Paws4Tea in Llandaff North on the 13th. ;D
-
Sending you big hugs Peppa, hope you are better soon xx
-
Hope you feel better soon Peppa xxx
-
Poor Peppa it is all the hard work she does for FP and fundraising hope it is not to serious she must be in a bit of pain love her. when mine reach 7 I give them codliveroil once a day and then joint care from about 10. My Ellie is 14 this year and really slowing up age is creeping up on her. But no health problems yet touch wood
-
Peppa says Thank you x
The physio was surprised with her pain tolerance and lack of reaction when a sore spot touched. Most she did was lick her licks, look up and once licked the physio's hand.
She goes in on Tuesday at 8.10 am.
-
:( Aw poor Peppa, we hope you'll get sorted very soon as it's not nice at all to be poorly :-*
-
Big hugs to Pappa and you too Audrey. x
-
aww bless her - hope she's not in too much pain with it
I do love Bosley - well most of the time - today he found a whole pigeon that had just died and ate it feathers and all - he's such an athlete now that its impossible to catch him - he even went swimming with it at one point so I couldn't have it - Stella ended up with pigeon blood all over her (very white) tail - yuk
-
I know I shouldn't laugh Penny but I'm sat here with a hoooge grin on my face as Bosley is vewy vewy speshal to us too :-*
-
The little sod can jump up 5ft walls now so there's no catching him
-
Has the Pigeon had any after affects on Bosley
-
Not yet - the kittens were very interested in Bosley when he arrived home and were in awe of him LOL
Mind you after the long dead mole, rat, seagull wing and various others he obviously has a tough constitution
-
Have just found out why Lady's putting weight on - as soon as I close the door to go out she manages to deftly negotiate all the barriers I've set up to stop the dogs going upstairs but no not Lady she's a ninja and she nicks cat food LOL
and - as you're walking around quite happily minding your own business a kitten will fly through the air and wham you have a kitten wrapped round you somewhere (with all four paws of claws to grab on) hanging on for dear life and its quite a shock to the system (suddenly having the feeling of lots of needles attached to you hip)- ho hum for adolescent ninja kittens - mind you Colyn is now pretending to be a very loud purring furry growth that keeps sliding into the laptop keyboard in his attempts to be cute and cwtchy
-
What is it about Labs and Cockers I think they spend 80% of their lives working out how to get more food.
I did not realise you still had the kittens they sound a hand full but entertaining
-
Just back from a few days in the camper down Port Eynon, dropped in lucky with the weather, only took Ruby, Benjy & Granny (my son baby sat the other 3 ;)), I'll be picking up Linda's 2 oldie Yorkies Dewi & Alfie tomorrow to baby sit while they're on holidays......... 7 Yorkies & Granny ::)
-
...I think we should open a Yorkie nursery Maggie!
-
...I think we should open a Yorkie nursery Maggie!
My dream job Marina (if I was younger ;)).
I found a dog like a Westie wandering around the campsite yesterday, very friendly.......... so (as any rescue volunteer would) we "wandered" around the site until we found her frantic owner ;D
-
My daughter phoned me on Saturday afternoon, very excited as she had found a gorgeous cocker in the lane leading to her house. She wanted to keep her, but it turned out that she belonged to the neighbour across the field from her house (another neighbour recognised her). This dog gets out frequently & Fiona often hears the owner yelling at her for escaping (no visible fence!!) Fiona was very sad to give her back to her idiot owner, but had no choice sadly :(
-
This is such a frustrating situation but well done Fiona for caring.xx
-
It is frustrating but thankfully she did the right thing regardless of it being the wrong thing for that dog sadly - does she know this neighbour or can she talk to her about giving the dog up may be.
In general though sadly there are many other people who find a dog and just keep them and never report it despite loving owners looking for them (people that come and talk to me when fundraising are so happy they found a dog then when I ask if they had reported the dog as found its often no)
-
No, she doesn't know him. It's a large property with a lot of land, but it's not secure land, it just sort of rolls into the surrounding fields. The dog is young, maybe 6/7 months & just wanders at will. I fear it's only a matter of time before he meets a sticky end sadly :(. We don't understand why he doesn't make a small enclosure, maybe he's just expecting the dog will learn eventually ::) She wouldn't have kept him, she was walking him around the village to see if someone recognised him (well, she would have if he wasn't claimed after going through all the right channels ;D )
-
so sad everyone else is looking out for this dog's welfare but his owner isn't
-
how bloody awful - someone has set fire to manchester dogs home and so far 43 dogs have died
-
Oh never :( What sort of person would do that.
Very sad, run free little ones :'(
Good to see Battersea etc all offering help. Also the two men who risked their lives to go in and save 20 dogs.

150 dogs rescued , 60 have lost their lives all because of a 14yr old boy - it's very difficult to comprehend WHY? :'(
-
It is totally unbelievable what is happening in our world I am ashamed those poor poor souls even the ones who survived must be so traumatises
-
I don't like this world !!!!!!!!!!
-
That's heartbreaking, why would someone do something like that? Especially a 14yr old. Reading that brought tears to my eyes but partly because of the response of the general public, looks like so many people have taken beds and food etc so even though it feels like a horrible world there are more good people in it.
Those poor dogs though, they must have been so scared.
-
Paws4Tea Cakes ready for tomorrow - Cherry, gluten free chocolate courgette and Banana :)
-
Please keep a large slice of Banana cake for me Audrey.....I can taste it already!
-
sounds lovely Aud I have done scones and a chocolate rocky road thing
-
Linda & Den are back home so I popped the "boys" Alfie & Dewi back home........... boy oh boy they were gald to see them!!!!!!!!!!!, Aunty Maggies hotel was "OK" but it was soooo good to be home ;) :-* :-*
-
We've dropped Quincy back home to Linda and Den too. She was so happy to see them and all the doggy gang!
-
Ahhhhhh lovely. I spoke to Den earlier and he said how much Linda had missed the dogs :) I think Quincy loved her little holiday at Kempy Towers though :)
-
Only once did we go off in the camper without any of the dogs............. it was way too quiet ;)
-
When Betsy came to us over 2 years ago she was scared of many things, she has come so far, even goes up to other dogs voluntarily! something she would never have done. However, her biggest fear is when I sneeze!!! I kid you not! She leaves the room, hides upstairs, so today is her worst nightmare come true as I have a cold & so am sneezing quite a lot, she doesn't quite know what to do & I feel so sorry for her. I am actually trying to leave the room when I feel a sneezing fit coming on just to spare her the worry, bless her ::) What strange things are your dogs afraid of?
-
Poor Betsy, if only they could talk to help us understand.
Maisie is scared of the microwave, no clue why.
-
Sorry to hear you're not well Judy {{hugs}} & that Betsy doesn't like you sneezing, the only thing that one of my dogs (Ruby) doesn't like is my son watching football !!!!!!!!!!, when she was a pup a goal was scored & Steve jumped around & shouted madly, she's very unsettled just waiting for a goal ;)

I've had no email for days and days (ta muchly, BT) >:( >:( >:(. Sorry to hijack the forum but I need to tell FP Cassie's foster mum - Penny aka FrankieBeee - that she is doing brilliantly after the operation (removal of potentially cancerous lumps) and the latest lab results indicate that there has been no spread. Still nearly blind, deaf as a post and senile but lively, happy and running the household entirely to her own satisfaction. ::) ::) And all else is well here - just huge frustration at being e-cut off. Hope to resume normal service when BT remembers it's supposed to provide a service. xx
-
:) Penny will be thrilled (as we all are) that Cassie's doing well bless her :-*
-
Thanks Maggie. Cassie is the most stubborn little survivor I have ever known, love her. I think she gets it from Penny's side of the family.
-
Just been to PAH Blackwood, the donation bin was full mainly with wet (tins & trays), a small bag & a sack of Wagg which I know Linda & Den will need soon ;), could someone pick it up please?
-

awww thanks Annie - lovely to hear she's still going strong and hopefully will continue to rule her own world for a long time yet x
Is there any chance of kicking BT into touch and ditching them (I did after weeks of problems) or is there no choice

I'll go up in the next few days Maggie ;D thanks for letting us know. x

I had it here & Colin just picked it up ;D

Stuck with BT for the moment because I don't dare to change my email address for work reasons. As you know only too well, if people have problems contacting a freelance, they immediately go to the next name on the list. Roll on retirement - my first celebratory gesture will be to tell BT where to put itself - in free, fully-formed, purple prose ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Cassie sends her love. New kid on the block next door - absolutely gorgeous golden retriever puppy called Lola. It took less than 60 seconds for Cass to whip her into shape, despite the fact that she can neither hear nor see her. One encounter with the ferocious Cassie-bark and the little thing was cowering behind the plant pot. Sometimes I wish my girl has kept her hearing and lost her voice. ::) ::)
-
Am pleased I stuck with virgin as any problems I've had have been sorted quickly and even when the foster pups chewed through the phone cable last year they didn't charge me for repairing it and then when I complained they'd cut my aerial off at the wall (now on cable) a year after they did it they came round and fixed it straight away (I wanted to make sure I still had access to my tv in case anything went wrong) - they also text or ring to let you know when they're coming and fix a time so you're not left faffing around at home waiting for them and then they ring afterwards to ask how it all went.
-
I've done my good deed for the day. We now have a new rescued animal to go with our 3 dogs. He's a huge goldfish, but I can't think of a suitable name.
Any fish experts out there? :)
-
Nemo :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

So early hours of Wednesday Betsy had a flare up of her recently diagnosed colitis, thankfully she managed to wake me with a whimper & a touch of my arm - clever girl! - So wednesday all day she was fine & Thursday morning, then sometime during yesterday she refused to pee in the garden, stood by the patio doors, tail between her legs. It got so desperate that Sy had to take her on a walk at 11pm just to make sure she peed before bedtime, then again this morning, same problem. Suddenly this afternoon all was fine again! What goes through their little heads I do not know ::)
-
:( Aw poorly Betsy, sometimes they act "strange" & we can't figure out what's wrong, it's frustrating & upsetting, Ruby wouldn't eat (she HAS to due to her Diabetes) so I hand fed her for a few days then she was ok ::)xxxxx
-

Aww, poor Ruby, Last weekend Betsy stayed with our holiday dog carers, Neil & Irene. Each morning she wouldn't eat her breakfast, so Neil (bless him) fed her kibble by kibble by hand :) Princess Betsy we shall rename her :D
-
One of the dogs that I Home Board is hand fed twice a day he will not eat otherwise he was ill when little and they just carried it on he is 8 now
-
Am hoping its just a case of having an iron stomach but Bosley is determined to give me more grey hairs - one of the norty ninja cats knocked Roobs heart med container on the floor this morning (I heard it fall rather than saw it but couldn't find her meds anywhere and it sounded like her meds - they're in a different container than the others) - after turning the kitchen upside down I got ready to take the dogs for a walk as Amy was coming over to join me - she arrived with me asking if she could take Boz and I to the emergency vets as we weren't sure if the chewed up container I eventually found in the yard was the empty one or if Boz had also eaten 29 heart tablets and vets insisting I went in. Lovely Spanish vet saw a very boingy dog who was then a wuss when he needed to have bloods taken - vet couldn't find anything wrong with him but still have to keep an eye on him - ho hum
-
:o Wow Penny there's never a dull moment eh?, I hope it all works out ok.xxxxxxxx
-
I thought it was going to be one of those days when my central heating kept randomly going on and off of its own accord
-
Today was uneventful - well apart from when Wilf peed on Lady's head that is LOL
-
Some one is having a laugh we have 3 days of firework displays coming up and tonight we are having a huge thunder and lighting storm. the dogs are going to be a wreck by the weekend
-
Poor Asha Whippet is so confused by it all and acting really odd by just going around in circles Its only Fireworks/Thunder I can put it down to :(, I've tried everything to settle him.
On the other hand Pepper Peke thinks she should run & bark and them and they will go away ::)
-
Sounds like you're all really going through it over there with fireworks and a thunderstorm on top :(
Kirsty, Anya is always bad and does lots of circling when there's thunder. I always wonder if the atmospheric pressure makes her head hurt, could possibly be the same for Asha.
-
I've been using melatonin with Stella since last sunday week, which seems to help - last night she was spark out (had given her max dose)
-
oh bug***er - Bosley did eat those tablets - have managed to get to the bottom of the wheelie bin after scouring the rubbish in the kitchen and all over the ground floor - am really worried now and waiting till vets open to see what to do next - these tablets are toxic and could result in renal failure int he quantity he has ingested
-
Hope he's OK Penny, bet it seems like an age until the vets are open. Does he seem fine in himself?
-
Yes he does seem fine, a little quiet but then that's about right post-breakfast anyway - have already spoken to Helen who is speaking to Steve this morning (then may be ringing the drug company)
-
:( Hoping & praying that Bosley won't have any after effects, they're like toddlers & you have to have eyes in the back of your head.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
I just have to keep monitoring him and he's having another blood panel later in the week
-
Fireworks are going crazy tonight, but Betsy is fast asleep, no reaction at all!! This is a million miles away from her first bonfire night with us in 2012 when she hid in the wardrobe :(. I hope everyone else's dogs are not too stressed this year!
-
Ahhhh that's so good to hear, shows how secure she is :)
I have one (Dexter) who isn't bothered in the slightest and has just been for a wander round the garden with fireworks going off all round and two girls who are completely freaked out :( Rescue Remedy seems to be helping slightly but I'll be glad when it's all over.
-
The trouble is, it never seems to be over!! It seems to go on until new year these days! ::)
-
:( Ruby is quite unsettled, she's normally fine but there's some fireworks like cannons tonight........ lots of cwtching on the sofa with me yacking away in a silly voice......... all quite normal for this place ;)
-
Ace and the pup are running around out side not bothered Nikki and Buzz Shaking even on meds they are like bombs going off.
-
Huge firework display over the village green here in Northumberland and Gillon has been reduced to jelly. It is normally so quiet in the depths of the countryside that he simply isn't used to it. And it is probably bringing back some bad memories of his sad past (probably dumped because he failed as a gun dog). He is now permanently clamped to my leg - he even pushed the loo door open (nice ::) ::)) to be with me. It's going to take him a while to get over this and I feel very sorry for him. On the other hand, Cassie is completely unfazed. There are a few advantages (a very few) to being blind and completely deaf but with a nose able to detect spuds cooking on the bonfire from half a mile away. ;) ;)
-
LOL to Cass
Stella settled after 3 melatonin tablet and being able to snuggle in next to me on the sofa - but which eejit decided to light fireworks that exploded over my house after 10.30pm
not forgetting whoever set fireworks off this morning in daylight
-
I took Roobs for some more antibiotics and poor love while she's find in herself (we'd be spending all our time moaning) the boney tumour bit has popped through her gum now (it wasn't there 2-3 weeks ago) :(
-
Poor Roobs is she in pain pen
-
Poor Ruby :( It's good to hear she's fine in herself though, what a little trooper she is :)
-
No she isn't in any pain or real discomfort even though we did discuss pain relief we felt it wasn't appropriate to dope her up with it unless really needed - she's the same Ruby just with a rather large nose now (plus it stinks) - I have rimadyl if for some reason it looks near the end and only emergency vets open and better for me to make sure she's comfortable then see my own vet (I want to avoid emergency vets for the last act if I can) - apart from her head the rest of her body looks pretty fit for age 12 and she's still enjoying her walks and eating of course
-
She is - and puts us all to shame if we were in same condition plus she's always been a stoic little dog
-
Aw Roobs what a real trooper you are even though you've had a lot of health problems :-* :-* :-*
-
As Victor Meldrew would say........... I don't believe it !!!!!!!!!!!!!, I was rushing around this morning dishing out doggy medication to be able to get to the doctors for 10.30 to have my blood pressure check-up (it's a bit high), I was getting in quite a tizz when Paul said "Are you sure it's to-day I thought it was tomorrow"............................................................ yep, 10.30 tomorrow :-[ ::), so I'm chillin' wiv the dogs, I'm quite relaxed but feel a bit stoopid ;)
-
::) ::) know the feeling Maggie ::) ::) I thought I was meeting a friend for lunch today only to find it's next week ::) ::)
-
:) I feel better now Dianne knowing I'm in good company ;) xx
-
Just as well you did not go Maggie I think it might have been a bit high. I don't remember what day it is sometimes I figure it does not matter. Better to be a day or week in Diane's case early than late.
-
I once arrived for a smear appointment a week early LOL
-
My Dad lives in a retirement apartment & sadly this morning the postman found one of his neighbours had died on the landing, his little dog was laying beside him & refused to move :( It's thought he had returned from a walk a few hours earlier, the dog is a barker, hates the postman, but didn't make a sound, just lay there, heart breaking. Thankfully the old chap has a niece who has a couple of dogs & knows this dog well & so has taken him in.
-
So so sad, such a loyal little dog. I hope he is ok x
-
How very sad (I was once brought a cocker to foster who's owner had died in his sleep 2 hours earlier, poor thing was so bewildered)
-
I think bewildered sums it up, poor little dog. Dad said the niece is lovely & will look after the dog, I know it sounds awful, but the first thing I said was what was happening to the dog, but they don't know what's going on do they? Pleased someone kind has taken him :)
-
dogs are very resilient though and do bounce back
-
:'( My daughters 2yr old dog Floss (Border Collie) is in Langford doggy hospital in Bristol as she's been vomiting & lethargic, yesterday her vet couldn't find anything wrong but said come back today 9.30, x-ray showed nothing & decided to operate, Floss had eaten "Something plastic" & was dangerously ill, she'll be in Langford until Monday so please send healing thoughts to Floss.xxxxx
-
Sending all healing thoughts to Floss, you must all be so worried :( She's in very capable hands at Langford, hoping for some positive news soon xx
-
Lots of love coming your way Floss :luv:
-
I was chatting to a lovely lady at the vets today & as we were chatting I "just happened" to mention Four Paws, she's a photographer & would love to help so I gave her a flyer I "just happened" to have in my bag ;).
-
Well done Maggie :)
-
Your bag is like a tardis Maggie spread the word
-
:) Julie there's pretty much everything in my bag & I've got the dent in my shoulder to prove it ;)
-
I always carry them if am going out - just in case ;)
-
I've now got high blood pressure, going for physio this afternoon for my lower disc problem, going for bloods tomorrow to see if I've got an under active thyroid, back & forth the vets with the dogs, just been with Ben & he has to have his cataracts done :'(, Lucy is practically blind & deaf, we're all falling apart......... well, we're all oap's ;)
-
Awwww Maggie why do all these things come together. Sending you hugs, hope you're all feeling better very soon.
-
Oh Maggie - what a rotten collection of events. But you're an OAP like I'm Scarlett Johansson! If you count your achievements rather than the years, you're in your prime. angel.gif angel.gif Here's hoping the doctor and the vet find the right glue and put you all back together in double quick time.
-
Oh Maggs you are all going through it at the moment summer is coming I am sure it will make you all feel better
-
Maggie, as long as you don't mix appointments and tablets up you'll be fine LOL ;) (I once popped one of Wilf's pills then realised and spat it out)
-
Chin up Maggie, I hope you will all be feeling better soon :)
-

Nearly mixed up appointments but not the meds........ yet ;)

Aw Annie that's put a smile on my face thank you, you have a lovely way with words.xxxx

When I was at the vets today (with my Four Paws jacket on) I got talking to a lady & she said her dog was from Four Paws about 6yrs ago, it was Skye who was with Jo & Neil & had her pups with them, she's still very active & happy girl :-*
-
oh wow - I remember Skye. Was she also the mum of Helen's (Cumines Vets) dog Maggie
Answered my own question she was

-
:-* That's a cracking piccie Penny, the lady said that some of the pups were like normal collies & had brown in them so I reckon that Maggie was one of them, do you remember Skye had lost a paw? xxxx
-
Apologies to the men folk, but this made me laugh!

LOL funny and true!!
-
:) That's why I have 5 dogs ;)
-

Didn't think she had
Told Jo about her on Facebook just now and she thought they'd adopted another of ours as well and I do vaguely remember it now as am sure she came to say hello when we used to do the Newport PAH
-
I think she said Skye had lost it before she had her.xx
-
Hope the weather's OK tomorrow as am in city centre fundraising for marie curie for 2 hours (taking Boz & Lady with me and I usually sneak in a few four paws flyers when people ask me about FP when I talk about the dogs etc.) and I have a broken tooth
-
I hope you have a great day tomorrow & that your broken tooth won't cause any bother, I've just had one taken out as the fillings just kept falling out, luckily the nerve had been taken out years ago.xx
-
The forecast is not good
-
waterproofs all round it is then LOL
-
Didn't rain thank goodness
-
:) Glad it stayed fine for you :)
-
Dogs enjoyed it too as they got lots of cwtches and showed how much more relaxed Bosley was when he wasn't closed in - I even got 2x £20 notes donated
-
:) Glad Bosley enjoyed himself & what generous people were there.xx
-
Vets have rung to tell me Ruby is back :(
-
:'( Oh Penny, it's almost like losing her again, this is the last chapter in Roobs book of life, you must have soooo many wonderful memories of her............ she was very loved not just by you but by everyone who met her. Lot's of love & hugs for you.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
It feels quite comforting really once I picked her up - she even went for a trip round the co-op, which she always wanted to do
-
I didn't know what to expect when I got Maddy back, but although I cried, I also felt comforted by having her back with me. Her beautiful little box sits on my dressing table where I can talk to her (which I do often) I hope having Ruby back with you brings you some comfort too xx
-
Dentist today to have a tooth out & it seems I need to go to the dental hospital as well, as dentist saw something odd on the X-ray (he doublechecked them after I left last week, which is good) - he said it may resolve itself now my tooth is out but wants the dental hospital to check anyway as its not something he's seen before.
-
:( Aw it's pick on Penny time again, things seem to come in batches, I used to go to the dental hospital years ago & found them wonderful so I hope they'll take good care of you :).xxxxx
-
Am pleased the dentist was being observant and careful, as my last practice here used to skim over stuff you always wondered if they'd missed anything.
-
I've just been to pick up 8 beautifully hand made crocheted blankets from a lovely lady who had been making them in memory of her beloved Tiggy who died 2 weeks ago, she wanted them to go to a rescue to keep them warm, her son was telling a neighbour of mine about the blankets but didn't know where to take them, my neighbour told him about me & Four Paws......... the lovely ladies name was Maggie & we had quite a chin wag ;), she'll let me know when she has some more & is going to look at our website :).
-
That's so kind of her to think of us :)
-
That is a nice thing to do
-
What a lovely, generous way to remember a much-loved dog at the bridge.
-
Just reading today's South Wales Argus and there is a piece in there about FPAR. The staff at Newport Council's kennels have raised money for us because we paid to have Nala's leg amputated. Lovely write up :) Total so far raised £100.
-
That's very thoughtful of them :)

Had a lovely, long, country walk with a fellow dog walker friend today. Betsy met a tiny Shetland pony. The pony was so friendly & Betsy was a tiny bit scared, bless her. They touched noses a couple of times & had a good sniff of each other, he then tried to follow us as we left. Betsy just didn't know what to make of this strange creature, but was her usual gentle self :)
-
Aw bless :luv: it's good to make friends Betsy with all shapes and sizes :luv:
-
:) I love Shetland ponies (it's dem short legs again ;)), you should have seen the Yorkies faces when I brought Fred here, well done Betsy for being friendly to the pony :-*
-
She really was so sweet, couldn't quite work it out, but sort of knew he was ok :)
-
:'( Well can today get any worse?, I had to rush Lucy to emergency vets this evening with breathing problems, her little chest was heaving & her tongue was a bit blue, I really thought it was her heart & she was going to be PTS, her heart is fine but they think it may be pneumonia which is putting a strain on her heart, she's staying there tonight & they'll do chest x-rays, bloods & whatever else she needs, hopefully she'll make it through the night & she'll be transferred to our vet tomorrow. I just rang to see how she is & she's in an oxygen tent, just done bloods & I have to ring again at 11pm for an update, most of you have met Lucy but those who hasn't she's one of my "failed" foster's, weighs 1.4kg, between 15 & 20yrs old, blind, no teeth & a loose jaw, but who's the boss?, yep, Lucy, who we've had for 4yrs on the 26th.
Pleeeaase can you send her loads of get well soon thoughts, it's going to be a strange day tomorrow what with Lucy & Fred (in for an urgent op) both at the vets, good job my daughter & 2 grandchildren are coming ;)
-
Sending lots of love and hugs :luv: to Fred , Lucy and to you Maggie angel.gif xx
-
Oh goodness Maggie, huge hugs to you and the furry ones xx
-
Oh Maggie, everything is happening all at once :( Lots of good thoughts for you all heading your way xx
-
Sending Lucy and Fred positive thoughts, all fingers toes and paws crossed here Maggie ! Xx
-
Just had an update on Lucy, she's "comfortable", still in oxygen tent with antibiotic IV, lot's of things going on which could be age related (liver & kidney function not good), x-rays showed enlarged heart, further tests/monitoring during the night & see what tomorrow brings.
-
Bless her, she's such a little fighter. Hope there's some good news this morning Maggie xx
-
It must be time of year for poorly dogs. Poor Lucy she is waring out love her hope there is good news today
-
Praying for Lucy and Fred Maggie, hope they are better today xxx
-
Hope Lucy is doing better this morning, such a worry for you. Hope Fred is ok too, bless him. You're having quite a time of it at the moment Maggie (sending you a big hug!) hoping for some good news on both pups xx
-
I saw Lucy this morning for a few minutes but she couldn't cope outside of the oxygen tent, it's not looking good & things are more complicated trying to get small enough doses as she's so tiny, I think a decision will have to be made later on today :'(
-
Big hugs Maggie xx
-
Hugs from us too maggie, we have our fingers and toes crossed for some positive news xx
-
only just seen this - am so sorry Maggie, hope you have better news later today xx
-
Thinking of you Maggie xxxx
-
Sorry Maggie it is never easy sending you huge hugs
-
Sending big hugs and thinking about you all xx
