Ed cat left this world at 3.10 this afternoon
He'd been ill for a while after my vet told me he thought he had tumours on his kidneys
However, despite his problems he was enjoying taking advantage of room service and beign waitign on day and night at his every whim.
Yesterday though he'd not drunk or eaten as much as he had been doing then he seemed to stop drinking and eating today and the light had gone out of his eyes and he could hardly walk.
Once I'd made the appointment I had an hour to spare before I left for vets again so we sat in the sunshine together - with him on my lap and me stroking him gently and the dogs sitting alongside the chair all taking in the sun together.
Ed was not far off his 17th birthday
Run free little one

he was
Ed taught Wilf and Ruby how to behave around cats and half the time if either were in one room and Ed was in the doorway their respect for him was immense and they refused to barge past him and would whimper to tell me he was stopping them coming into the room - yet the worst he ever did was the odd hiss but it was him being there that impressed upon them. To chastise the pups he would sit there and whop them on the head with is paw (claws in).
He was quite a slight (in stature) cat yet I have fond memories of him chasing adult foxes out the garden when lived in Oxford
When I moved house once (a few doors down the road LOL) we couldn't find him the 1st night we were in the house - norty boy decided to find a hole and go under the floorboards in protest at moving house (he did the same when I moved here) and refused to budge - thankfully the power of food helped as I didn't want to start pulling floorboards up.

A great age and many lovely memories Penny. x
