Indi (or Indi Bear as she's known here) is currently undergoing a 14 day assessment and will be ready for rehoming from 23rd June 2014. Applications are welcome from now.
Indi came to us from the Pound as an unclaimed stray. She's the most beautiful milk chocolate colouring and it's clear she's been loved because she loves her home comforts and is very friendly and sociable. She's in foster with 3 large dogs and is polite and friendly with them all.
Indi has some very large lumps on one of her back legs which make her look a bit lopsided from the back and we wonder if that's the reason she was lost/dumped. In typical Labrador fashion she takes it all in her stride and has quite a turn of speed once she gets going. I will load videos later on. We have had these tested and they are confirmed fatty lumps so shouldn't give her any problems. We will be happy to share vet reports with any potential adopters.
She's having 3 short-ish walks a day at the moment as she loves her walks and gets very excited when the lead comes out but she does get tired so about half an hour at a time is enough. Out and about she pretty much ignores other dogs (after a friendly greeting), horses, cows & sheep. She was quite interested in a cat she saw on our walk this morning!
Indi is a very polite girl, she waits to be invited up onto the sofa and isn't keen on going upstairs - I'm guessing she wasn't allowed in her previous home. My (spoilt) boy sleeps on my bed and I'd made up a bed for Indi on the landing but she prefers to sleep downstairs. She's quiet all night and what a welcome in the mornings :)
Although she's 9 years old, she's lively, playful and outgoing and would be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. So far it seems that she could live with or without another dog, people are her first love so we would like her new family to be around for a fair bit of the day so she doesn't spend too much time on her own.
More updates as we get to know her better but so far she's the perfect house guest.
Update 18|6|14 - Indi's settled in beautifully, she sleeps quietly all night, walks on a loose lead (mostly) when we go out, has pretty good recall (as long as nothing more interesting has caught her attention!) and is a very sociable girl. Yesterday morning we walked with 8 other dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages and she loved it. She didn't interact massively with them but was happy to run with the pack. If any dog is grumpy with her she just walks away. She's a quiet girl, I haven't heard her bark yet.
Her only small quirk is that she's a typical Lab and will try to eat literally anything!
She's becoming more playful and lively with every day that goes by, you would never know she was 9, she acts younger. She also loves to snuggle up on the sofa and will rest her head on you given the chance :)
Last night I took her to the local pub for an hour and she was a delight, after the initial excitement of so many people wanting to pet her and talk to her she just lay down in the shade good as gold. A little girl came to stroke her and she accepted the fuss quietly, no jumping up.
At the moment she's a little bit head shy but I think that's because she's had bad ears and wasn't keen on having them touched initially, rather than because she's had any kind of bad treatment but that's improving now her ears feel better and she's trusting us more. Tomorrow she's going in for a little operation to sort out the haematoma in one of her ears, not a big op but it will make her much more comfortable and prevent it coming back.
This video shows her playing in the garden, I've tried to show the size of the lumps on her back right leg but as you can see they don't hinder her in having a good time! Excuse the washing and chat!!

Update 20|6|2014 - Indi's a little bit sad at the moment, yesterday she had an operation to sort out a haematoma in her ear. Poor girl has a shaved ear and stitches but is starting to feel a little bit brighter. Last night she slept on my bed because she was under the weather, I've got a feeling it might become a habit though! She's still wanting her food and her walks and was very put out this morning when she was only allowed a walk on lead instead of her usual run :)
Update 23|6|2014 - This lovely lady's true personality is starting to shine through now. She loves playing and brings her favourite toy to you and puts it on your lap if she wants to play. For an older girl she's got lots of energy and can happily manage several walks a day. I'm looking forward to taking her swimming once she's had the stitches in her ear taken out, I've got a feeling she's going to be a bit of a water baby.
Indi's ideal home would be where someone was around most of the time, she really does love people. She likes dogs and does occasionally play with Dexter but the majority of the time she ignores my three dogs. She and Anya aren't getting along (Anya's fault, she was mean to Indi on day one and Indi hasn't forgiven or forgotten!) but Indi is happy to ignore if Anya leaves her alone. She could live happily with or without another dog(s) but not too young or bouncy. Same goes for children, she seems fine with them but I think young children would be too much as she likes a quiet life when she's not out on walks or racing around the garden. One of her favourite things is snuggling up next to her people on the sofa.
Everyone who has met Indi has fallen in love with her, she's got such a lovely gentle way about her angel.gif Could you be her perfect forever home?
Please put in an application in the first instance if you are interested in Indi. Approved applications will be home checked.

She is a gorgeous girl and has an amassing temperament very loving and kind a typical Lab angel.gif
-
Lovely pictures of lovely Indi - she looks so much better and happier already!
I am very glad to hear the bumps are only harmless fat lumps - that is such good news indeed!
Lucky girl :-)
I have met Indi briefly and was impressed by her gentle and playful nature - with that and her super-white teeth, I'd never guessed that she is 9 years old. Hope she has many happy years ahead :-)

Oh wow Indi, you are beautiful xx

I had the pleasure of temporarily fostering Indi for a few days ;D She is an absolute star and such a happy dog angel.gif She fitted In with my 3 dogs straight away and ignored my cats :) One evening, she was lying on the sofa and my cat was on the arm of the sofa next to her.

There's not a bad word to say about Indi, she really is a special girl and so well behaved angel.gif
With her favourite toy (she pulls everything out of the dogs toy box to find this when she wants it :)) and she will run after it and bring it back to you for hours!

Feel better soon Indie xx

First post updated :)

Poor Indi she looks lopsided love her, we will have to get auntie Maggie to make her some ear muffs

I realised I haven't been very good with updates about Miss Indi and that's mainly because there's only so many ways you can say a dog is just about perfect angel.gif
In the early days Indi was a little bit stressed out but that's not really surprising as she'd been in kennels, in a temporary foster home (thank you Alison :)) and then moved here. Add to that quite a few vet visits and I'm sure she didn't know if she was coming or going. She's been with us for 2 weeks now and is happy, confident and settled, has got used to our routines although sometimes I wonder if it's us who have got used to her routines rather than the other way around!
Her ear where she had the haematoma sorted out is healing nicely, the vets are very pleased with her. The stitches are due to come out on Thursday. She's much less head shy now her ears aren't hurting anymore and this morning let me give her other ear a bit of a clean without much fuss.
Here she is with Dexter looking a little bit relaxed but not very ladylike and showing off all her shaved patches where she's had the lumps tested!! Indi is going to be such a wonderful addition for some lucky family, she deserves a perfect forever after and we will do our very best to make sure she gets it.

:-* Fran I think Indi looks verrrry relaxed ;), what a sweetheart she is, I love to see them start to realise they're in safe & loving hands.xxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
It's lovely isn't it, one of the many reasons fostering is so rewarding :)
-
She does look very happy there it is amassing how light she is in colour compared to Dexter, Both chillaxing angel.gif
-
She is, they're like Milk & Plain chocolate :)
-
Indie was invited to the local Beaver's group so we could see how she felt being around children. I'm sure she must have lived with children in her previous life, she was so excited when she saw the kids and not at all bothered by them running around and playing. She rolled over on her back and let them all tickle her tummy, played fetch and gave them kisses when she could get away with it.
What a star this girl is angel.gif
-
Aw bless her xx
-
:) Aw good girl Indie, sounds like you passed with flying colours & enjoyed yourself too :-*
-
I'm so proud of Indie.
Two weeks ago when she went to the vets she had to be sedated before they could take blood samples or even check her over properly :(.
Today she wandered in with a waggy tail and let the vet vaccinate her, remove the stitches in her ear and check her anal glands. What a difference. She's such a clever, trusting girl it's lovely to see.
-
Well done Indi...it's lovely when they come round so quick and re-gain our trust
-
:-* Wow what a brave & good girl you are Indie........... fab to see her blossoming :-*
