Breed – German Shepherd – Female.
Age - 3-5yrs old
Dog Friendly – Appears to be so far!
Cat Friendly – Not Known
People Friendly - Yes

House Trained – Yes :)
Spayed – Not Known, but will definitely be before rehoming.
Travel – Did cry a little Initially, but settled.
Food - On dry, eats every scrap of it!
Fostered - Caerphilly Area
The minimum adoption donation for Nymeria is £150.
Nymeria is currently undergoing a 14 day assessment and will be ready for rehoming from 1st August. Applications are welcome during the assessment period.
We picked up Lady Nymeria (or Nym-Nym) from kennels this morning. She was quite talkative on the way home, kept saying hello to us in the car ;) She settled well a few mins into the journey and put her head on my lap.
We stopped off at Penallta park on the way back, to let her have a little wee and a stretch of her legs. She does pull a little on lead, but is feather light so really isn’t an issue at present! She is responsive and will listen to you, everything was a little overwhelming for her though…so we can forgive her for not listening to our every word ;) She met an offlead Labrador beautifully, and had some cuddles with his owner…who did seem quite taken with her!

Poor Nymeria isn’t in the best of condition, you could play a tune on her ribs, and can visably see most the bones in her body. Her fur is patchy in places, and threadbare on her chest, but this will get better with time. All this being said she is quite a happy dog, and doesn’t appear to hold any grudges to humans at all! She loves cuddles, and doesn’t hesitate to roll over for a tummy rub! She is coping well with Deans dad doing some DIY around the house today, even goes up to greet him when he pops in the room (he isn’t hugely keen on dogs, but she is very gentle). She takes treats every so gently and sits everytime for them :)
I did try her with some toys, and the only one she has a true love affair with is a big tennis ball, she really enjoyed me throwing the ball for her in the garden. She would only let me have it if I held two hands out. But once I had it she was there sitting waiting for me to throw again. She carried the ball around in her mouth proudly for an hour when I left her to it, soo cute!
We have given her a little shower, to get the worst of the smell off ;) Not that shes smelly…. She is soo painfully thin :( It astonishes me how dogs keep going when we would be laid up! She is a true fighter and we will make sure she gets the food and care she needs.

I met lovely Nym Nym today. She is a gentle soul who was so excited to get a basket with a comfy inside. I took some food up as well she will need to eat little and often to build her up we gave her a little and it was gone in an instant!! She then settled for a lovely snooze in her basket. She seems to love a cwtch Nia did lots of smoothing and Nym Nym was very willing to accept. This poor girl has been through so much she's now in the right place to start the journey to her happy forever after..

Don't be daft - I'm really glad she's with you! There are lots more lovelies for us to foster :) I did think you might have fallen for Armani. We're ready for another foster now but our Dylan is such a big baby we've got to make sure our fosters don't dominate him! Looking forward to updates on beautiful Nym's progress.

Update 19/07/2015
Well well well, what a girl! Last night we worrying we may have fussed her too much initially and that she wouldn't like sleeping in the kitchen. Boy were we wrong, one glance in our direction when we said goodnight to her. Then not even a murmur all night! That and the kitchen was completely clean, no mess angel.gif I was greeted by a very wiggly lady waiting by the baby gate, she did look alot better after a good nights kip! We went out the garden and she went for a big wee, then we came back in for some brekkie. I'm starting her on 4/5 small meals a day to try to get some more meat on those bones :) Once she had her food she was back off to bed! I stayed downstairs and fiddled about with the website updates and she was fast asleep until Dean came down. She was very excited to see him too! She whines and cries when she is happy...or enjoying a tummy rub. She had another small meal 2 hours later and she almost couldn't believe her luck! She kept stopping to look at me as if she was saying....really el? More for me? Needless to say she did finish the lot!
Her *Ahem* bowel movements appear to be near enough normal, they were slightly mushy yesterday, but have firmed up significantly and gotten darker now, so that's definitely good news in my book!

Dean has gone out down to his parents this morning, and Nym was quite upset by his departure. As soon as he shut the door to the hallway she started to cry, then she stopped to hear him opening the door. Clever pooch went straight to the window to watch him get into the car! She just sat there watching him. Once he had left she paced and cried for a few mins before going to bed to sulk!

We've had quite an exciting morning this morning, we met the rest of the kempies (including Lex and Jasper) just outside our house and went for walkies. It did get off to rather a shaky start, she spotted nia through our front door and started barking (fantastic guard dog! ;)). Once we were out of the door she spotted the others and another barking fit, so I told them to go on ahead, we went back in to calm down, then came back out when she was ready. (Only a minute or so) Each time she started to cry or bark when she spotted them ahead, we would turn around walk back a few paces, then turn back and carry on. Sure this did mean it took us longer to catch them up, but after a few times of me doing this she learnt it wasn't getting her anywhere fast and did calm down. When we did catch them up then she met Lex and Jasper beautifully. They weren't too put out by her either which was nice ;) Considering they are half her size!
They went romping around off lead and she pottered along in front of me on a longer line and she was perfectly happy. Nia disappeared behind a tree and she was quite upset she couldn't see her...but all was fine when she reappeared again! ;D We had a lovely walk down by the river, and went down to the little pebble beach. She followed the other two and dipped her paws in the river. Nym does have a bit of an obsession with rocks/pebbles. She likes to pick them up and carry them in her mouth, much like she did with the tennis ball yesterday! It may be that she was used to walkies with a tennis ball? I may try it later with her and see how she goes :)
They all walked beautifully together, checking in with each other now and then to see what they were doing. They all did a sit for a treat...then Jasper did get a bit narky because he thought he was entitled to more. She didn't even bat an eyelid when he snapped at her!! ::)

She came back home and crashed then! We didn't push her too far by letting the other two in, as they would go straight for the water bowl... though I haven't seen a bad bone in her body, its not fair for her to think that they could be taking food from her. We may try a little further next time.
At the moment she is very good meeting other people outside, though will bark at people she doesn't know coming into the house. Once she realises me and Dean are happy with these strangers she will go to meet them and is very well behaved. She doesn't associate our doorbell with the door yet...but i'm sure that will come ::) :o
Little Nym is sparked out on the floor now, right by the door waiting for her beloved Dean to come home. Possibly dreaming of the cooked dinner we are having later. Will update you some more as she progresses...everyone keep your fingers crossed for another sleep filled night!

I often wonder what's going through their minds when they come into foster (especially those who hasn't had the best start in life), the difference in Benjy who was a nervous wreck & is such a happy chappy now, it looks like Nym has already realised she's in a loving home & having more meals in a day than she's had in a while, there's life in her eyes now & she's ready to rock & roll. :-* :-* :-* :-*

Well for starters Lady Nym would like to send massive thankoos to nannie Maggie for bringing her lots of food and treats! And for the tickle between the ears ;) This new food should put some meat on her bones faster!
Little Nym has had another exciting day today! She was very good when Dean went to work this morning, she cried initially but soon stopped when I told her no more from upstairs. I got up a short while later and came down to see her and to take her out for wee's. I then invited her up for cuddles in bed. Corrr was Nym excited! She was straight on the bed and cuddled into me ;D We lay there for a while whilst I smoothed her sides and tummy, she cried to herself whilst I did. She absolutely couldn't believe her luck that she was getting such lovely fusses. She has evidently known loving snuggles in bed before :'( To be clear she makes no attempts to go upstairs unless invited, she does know she isn't allowed up on her own.

My dad and his girlfriend came to visit us today. I decided to pop to the shop down the road to grab some milk, this was the first time I have left her. I put her in the kitchen and closed the babygate. I said be a good girl and went out the door. She had started crying, but soon stopped when I locked the door...I thought it was pretty odd, so I thought I would check through the window to see what she was up to. Much to my surprise....Nyms face was right in the window looking cool as a cucumber!!!!! She had gotten out of the baby gate and come to watch for me out of the window :o I decided I would leave her to it and continued to the shop and grabbed her a jumbone treat, in the hope she coud have it if she had behaved. I got back, a grand total of 6 mins later and she was sitting by the sofa watching the window for me angel.gif Needless to say...she got her bonio ;) and she was super excited at being bought a special treat.
We met them from the bus stop and she pottered into the house with them and helped me show them around. She was extremely polite and went up to them for fusses, mostly in the hope that they wanted help with their tea :P She soon settled down and lay by my feet. They were amazed by how laid back she was with their presence, and that she was soo people friendly, despite her malnourished condition. Its very true of her nature she does love people!
We went out for walkies once they had gone, and I remembered to take the tennis ball! When we got down to the river path I threw it a little further ahead and she grabbed it to carry with her! Much better for her teefs than stones ;) We went down to the field and I threw it and ran with her in the rain. I did pop the lead down on the floor and throw the ball for short distances for her to run to and bring back and she did everytime. I didn't try too far just incase she decided there was a particularly interesting bush she wanted to run into! But so far soo good, I may try her a little more later in the week :) We then made our way home to wait for Daddy Dean to come home from work.

She never barks at the door when Dean comes in, but her excitement levels go straight through the roof! Her tail wags like its going to fall off, and thumps into anything in its path! She was crying and screaming in excitement running to see him when he came in today. It was such a wonderful sight! She was much more enthusiastic than me ;) She had 5mins of happy madness frolicking around him like a pup! He blummin loved it ;)
Don't tell Nym but she is off for a visit to the V.E.T tomorrow... will update you all again soon on Nyms Adventures!

Oh my word, what an angel she is angel.gif It never ceases to amaze me how forgiving dogs can be. She is so lucky to have landed up with the Deli team! Remember though, no matter how adorable she is, you need to make space for the next worthy souls!

Just a weenie update on Lady Nym.
She went to the vets today...if you were thinking "no nasties" thoughts for her, they worked. Though she was given a body score of 1-1.5kgs (0 being the absolute worst) though she weighs a not soo bad 20kgs. She is definitely looking healthier already and has slightly more coverage over her ribs and pin bones. I still think she could do with at least 5kgs more :)
They believe she is about 3-5yrs old, her teeth are a bit of a state probably mostly to do with her rock carrying/catching habit. They do believe she has more than been through the mill the past few months. But all is on the up now so no fear!
She was quite nervous in the vet so was very vocal...didn't show how well behaved she normally is at all! ::) Thanks Nym! ;)
We went shopping this morning and left her for an hour and she was good as gold. We are visiting friends this evening so will be out a little longer so we can see how she fairs then ;D

Update 22/07/2015
Nym continues to be an absolute pleasure, last night she was left 4 hours and was a very good girl. She had barely touched the kong we made her. She saved it for when we got back! We had an ecstatic poochy welcome too lots of kisses
and cuddles. No mess either...me thinks she had been snoozing, she was a little bleary eyed ;)

This morning when Dean left she gave two cries then settled down again, I didn't have to tell her to stop. I snoozed myself for another half hour then got up and took her out for wee's...then took her back up to bed with me for some snuggles. She gave me a big bear hug this morning, both paws around my head, face lying on the pillow next to me. I shant lie it was lovely. Nothing beats a proper big dog cuddle! She settled herself next to me and we rested our eyes a little. When we both got too warm we got up and had breakfast (her second breakfast!) and got ready to get up and go! She barked when I was in the shower, so I called her to me and she did stop...only on checking the hallway later did I realise she was telling me the postman had a parcel for me :o aaand I missed it! She was only trying to help! angel.gif
We went for a long walkie this morning, we walked up to a big field - where I tested out her recall a little more. I dropped the lead and let her potter around me as she wished for a while, calling her back to me for a treat. She was very good! I picked her lead back up again then and off up to the woods we went. I didn't manage too far up the mountain mind...still building up me legs ;) Much to Nyms Disappointment, she found a huge stash of rocks...She managed to grab one that she carried most the way home! Much like the stick she found last night! Nym walks beautifully along the roads on the pavements. I do like to do a bit of a mixture with her. She is friendly and inquisitive with all people she comes across. She can be hit and miss with other dogs. But it only comes out in barking at them, it doesn't seem malicious to me..just a bit of a racket!

We had another pack walkie with Lex and Jasper this evening. She met them extremely well, I'm sure she recognised them! Jasper as per usual was a bit narky with her and did snap when we were out. She didn't do a thing, just got out of his way ;D I tried her on an extendable lead whilst we were in the field by the river with them so she could follow the terrible twosome if she really wanted. She did enjoy going further than usual, but did keep checking back on me, and straight back to me when a treat was offered. We did a big loop then came back to see what they were like in the house together. All went very well, she was pretty excepting of her visitors...even when they were very rude and jumped on the sofa when she isn't allowed! They each had a piece of livercake in the garden (thanks mum, she blummin loves the stuff!) It was only when jasper came over to have a cuddle the tension rose a little. Nym likes to be close to mum...so she shuffled closer to me and sniffed jasper, then he told her off! They had a little scuffle, to be fair to her she just pushed him off and let him know that it wasn't fair. Then came and stood by me looking sad, poor little lady! Its just one of those things, dogs find their own level! They went home for food a little while later and she was quite content to be on her own again. I do think she could potentially live with another dog, but would be happier as the centre of attention ;D

Shes lying out under my feet now...politely reminding me I am actually supposed to be making spaghetti bolognaise today ;)
I'm so proud of this girl, shes a wonderful companion dog she would be extremely loyal to whoever gets to call her theirs! :-*
