We took Louie and Nelly to meet Charlie to see if they would get on. The meeting was a success there was loads of sniffing and happy wagging tails. We walked down the lane, Charlie was very good on lead didn't pull, walked nicely on the left side of me, sat down while we waited for traffic to past then stood up and carried on walking nicely. He was a bit of a dream when you consider what Nelly is like.

We brought him home :D  and being a bit smelly from kennel living the first thing was to give him a shower. He didn't like to shower in cold water, would you? When the water heated up he was happy to stand there and loved the shampoo being rubbed in to him, he was good and we rinsed him and toweled him off. He then ran round the house like a nutter rubbing body on every bit of carpet and furniture he could ;D so funny to watch.

When we fed Charlie he ate his food within 30 second there was no chewing involve just straight down, this guy could set speed records. We have borrowed a slow feeding dish for him and it has helped him slow right down. He was snatching treats at first but we have trained him not to and he has learnt not too. If you'd been though what he has, you'd understand, he'll slow down when he understands he's loved and will always be fed.

(http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah35/dawn_hanna1/Charlie/DSC_0292_zpsgd2jegq0.jpg) (http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/dawn_hanna1/media/Charlie/DSC_0292_zpsgd2jegq0.jpg.html)

Charlie had forgotten what it was like to be in a home because of kennels and being alone so he wandered round and was uneasy. He did settle quickly, and by the second day, started enjoying the comforts of home. He found the treat drawer on the morning of the second day when we left him for 1/2hr. He ate all the fresh breath dental sticks and turned the bin over,  we were lucky our bin has a lock so no mess. But he was breath fresh and so minty. Next day it was like cowpats :( . He also did a bit of kitchen counter surfing, I'm glad to say that has stopped and the treat drawer has been moved ;) to higher ground.

When we leave him on his own he doesn't bark or whine, he just goes upstairs and gets on his bed with Nelly and Louie for a snooze. When we get back, you can hear him diving off the bed and running down the stairs to greet us. We are working with Charlie to teach him not to jump up, he wants to show affection when someone comes to the house, my mum visited yesterday and he stayed down ( Edgar understands his reluctance).

Charlie is a willing learner, he sits give paws and is learning to wait for a treat. Charlie would like someone around for most of the time he just loves people. You only have to look at him and his tail starts wagging. He may have sad eyes sometimes but the tail tells a different story.

He has his own bed in the living room and our bedroom. He will get up on the sofa for a cutch when we are sat down watching tv, then when he has enough he gets down and sleeps on his bed. At bed time he knows the routine out for a wee then upstairs to the bedroom on his bed and waits for his treat then off to sleep he goes.

Charlie has had a great week, he's full of energy, easily bored, and has a 'lil Devil' in him where extra food is concerned, he's a pup.We take him out twice a day, morning's we take him to a field where he can run off his energy and chase the ball with Nelly, Louie and Queenie. He will bring it back unless he decides to eat it, his recall is good and he's a very sociable fur ball. We are still trying to get him to drop the ball and he will eventually lol. In the evening, we walk him around the estate on lead. He's very good, doesn't pull and will sit when we have to cross a road.

He can be vocal when he is on his lead and he see's another dog. Its not an aggressive bark, it's deep, gruff and it's his way of saying he wants to play. With training he will learn not to. Charlie will benefit from training class.

He does have a rebellious side ( kitchen counter surfing), it's an art form. He has learnt not to do it when we are in the kitchen but will when we are not with him, it's open season for freebie's. So far this week he has pinched a chubb roll and fitted Nelly up with the empty wrapper. He's had porridge and a slice of my toast this morning :o We know its not Nelly as she has never jumped up at the counter or made off with extra rations. He delights in framing her with the empty wrappers. Only problem is that he has a wet nose and porridge sticks to him like glue.

He has slowed down with speed eating since we borrowed a slow feeder bowl off Fran (thank you so much). I would recommend that Charlie's new family get one.

We love Charlie to bits he is so affectionate, he thinks nothing of jumping on your lap for a fuss, in his mind he is the size of a cat and as light as a feather, he gets ragged by the other two and has a great temperament and is fun. This guy is a lover not a fighter and adds to the quality of the lives he comes in contact with.

Charlie has had a great weekend. We think he has realised that he doesn't have to kitchen counter surf, or rummage through the bin for food.
He has learnt to sit and wait for his food bowl to be put down and when we say 'ok' he eats properly. He is very good doesn't try to eat out from the other dogs food bowls not that he would have a chance.

(http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah35/dawn_hanna1/Charlie/DSC_0368_zpsyrixecvs.jpg) (http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/dawn_hanna1/media/Charlie/DSC_0368_zpsyrixecvs.jpg.html)

Charlie will make a great companies for anyone and would prefer someone who is at home and be his buddy.  He is very good left for a hour or two, but he gets bored easily as he loves company. He loves doggie friends and can play with any size dog, he's very sociable.

(http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah35/dawn_hanna1/Charlie/DSC_0351_zpstchu6rtf.jpg) (http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/dawn_hanna1/media/Charlie/DSC_0351_zpstchu6rtf.jpg.html)

He loves to go out whether it's for a run, chasing a ball or haring round with Nelly. He also like a stroll on lead sniffing at everything and has never pulled when on lead
