Yoda came to us a hand in. Unfortunately his owner was working long shifts and Yoda was left alone more than was good for him. He developed a habit of biting his tail and had to have surgery on it. It is still in the process of healing. At the moment he is rather over excited by everything in life. However, he only arrived yesterday and after a few good, long walks he has started to relax a bit already. He is fabulous when out on a walk, has good recall and just likes to sniff and trot about. We hope that after his neutering operation he will calm down even further.
Yoda is a gentle, sweet boy; a typical loving, snuffly lump of a Staffie and we will update his thread regularly as we get to know him.

The neutering will calm him right down I hope!
Sounds to me like he's loving all of this extra attention and loving from his new foster family... I love the staffie smile!

This lovely boy went to the vet this morning for his vaccinations and to have his tail checked and was as good as gold (even though he was trembling with fear!) He let the vet examine him and vaccinate him without a murmur, and was very polite with all the other dogs in the waiting room. He's such a lovely, friendly little chap and has a smile that melts everyone's heart.
After a very long walk again today he calmed down and then settled down for a good snooze - but hasn't quite got the hang of lying elegantly on the sofa
(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/Stella_Dunstone/Yoda/Img_1324_zpsux4lygbg.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/Stella_Dunstone/media/Yoda/Img_1324_zpsux4lygbg.jpg.html)

The camera angle makes him look huge here, but actually he's quite a petite boy, a lot smaller than Dylan.

He is fabulous to take for a walk (and doesn't mind the rain a bit!) We have a super long lead for him at the moment, but he doesn't like to get too far away from us without coming back to check we're still following and whether we have the treats pot out. His recall is good, unless he's spotted another dog to say hello to and he's an agile little fella.

(It's ok, Richard didn't fall in at the end  :) )
This delightful boy is going to be neutered on Wednesday - hope he'll keep smiling even after that indignity.

Sweet Yoda doesn't understand why, after his op, he's not allowed to do most of his favourite things * and has to wear a collar to stop him messing with his stitches (and chewing his tail). He's getting a bit frustrated and we can't wait for him to be able to run and play again. Fortunately he can still snooze on the sofa wrapped in his favourite blanket (on loan from Dylan), and when he has this soft collar on he can have lots of cuddles too.

(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/Stella_Dunstone/Yoda/Img_1328_zpsd9fs90ks.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/Stella_Dunstone/media/Yoda/Img_1328_zpsd9fs90ks.jpg.html)

Yoda really is a comical little boy - especially first thing in the mornings when he squiggles on his back and very clearly says 'Rah, rah, rah'.  In fact he makes all sorts of funny little Staffie noises and often comes up for a chat if he thinks we need to know something (e.g. it's dinnertime)! He's quiet at night though thankfully.

* Things Yoda loves: running, meeting dogs and people of all sizes, play fighting with Dylan, dinnertime, cuddles on the sofa, Lidl's dog sausages, leftover human food, biting the vacuum cleaner, licking your neck, licking wet shoes!
Things Yoda doesn't like / doesn't understand: short walks on a lead, Buster collars, heavy, cold rain, pig's ears, tripe sticks, dog toys of any sort including stuffed kongs, liver (raw or cooked), being in a crate.

One more photo (pre operation) to show how handsome he is.

Wow that's one heck of a collar, isn't it!
Don't worry Yoda, it's all worth it in the long run... I promise :)

Btw, who actually enjoys heavy cold rain?!  ;D

:-* Hi Yoda, it's not nice having to wear your "collar" but believe me it's one of those times when us hoomans have to be cruel to be kind :(, it won't be for long & then you'll be able to run around having fun & you can shout "Rah, rah, rah" to your hearts content. :-*

Yoda had a day out yesterday at Strut a Pup. We both had to work and didn't want to leave Yoda for long so he spent the day being fussed on a different sofa. He didn't seem to mind. In fact he made himself right at home!

(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/Stella_Dunstone/Yoda/strut%20a%20pup_zpsw4yamryj.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/Stella_Dunstone/media/Yoda/strut%20a%20pup_zpsw4yamryj.jpg.html)

He was impeccably behaved and even managed to win over the resident dog, who apparently is very choosy. Lovely Yoda just loves company and was as happy as can be with humans around all day to fuss him, listen to him snore, take him out for a walk and protect him from the scary things blowing in the wind (he's not the bravest dog in the world ;D ).
At home he likes to have a bark when people arrive at the house (just to let us know!) but then welcomes everyone with a big grin and a wiggly bum. He really is a fabulous little chap, and if anyone wants to meet him we'll be at the Paws4Tea on Saturday (hopefully with his stitches removed so he can run again  )

Yoda was an absolute star today at the Paws4Tea  angel.gif He greeted everyone, humans and dogs alike, politely and loved all the fuss he got.
(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/Stella_Dunstone/Yoda/2015-11-21%2016.10.18_zpsrtkpcowx.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/Stella_Dunstone/media/Yoda/2015-11-21%2016.10.18_zpsrtkpcowx.jpg.html)
He wasn't in the slightest bit fazed by all the noise or crowds and washed quite a few faces as no-one could resist his lovely Staffie smile.

He is rather exhausted now though!

For fans of gorgeous (and hilarious) Staffie noises - here is Yoda's Rah, rah, rah song - a bit dark I'm afraid but the audio is the best bit. The bark is Dylan telling him to shut up ::)

Lovely Yoda wasn't too pleased with the rain today but made the best of it by running around the park like a loon, and sitting nicely for treats

(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/Stella_Dunstone/Yoda/Img_1317_zpswybrm5m8.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/Stella_Dunstone/media/Yoda/Img_1317_zpswybrm5m8.jpg.html)

then a breakthrough ..... he started to learn how to chase and fetch a ball. Woohoo! Steps towards new ways of having fun!
