Snow is a very sweet, loving and happy little man who was born deaf and partially sighted in both eyes. He will require a very special home and a very patient family, but the rewards of having this dog in your life will be incredible.
Currently he is fostered with our 4 dogs, his brother Frost and 5 cats and interacts very well with them all, but he is also an independant soul who enjoys naps and a fuss on his own.
We have had Snow for over 6 months now and the key to this dog is routine. He has adpated very well to the layout of our house and understands where hazards may lie. He is aware of us and can follow us around, we believe that he can see shadows and large objects quite well (he has no problem jumping up on the sofa for a cuddle thats for sure) and he has mastered the stairs after gentle persuasion with a few treats.
Toilet training has been a long process but we think we have finally cracked it. He responds very well to food treats and we have incorporated that into his training and we have the majority of toilet activity happening outside now, very few accidents inside so this training seems to be working so any potential adopters should look to a similar system. The ideal home for Snow will be a family who are home for the majority of the time as he enjoys interaction with people. He would be equally suitable to join a family with a dog already or as a sole companion who can get all of the cuddles.
He loves his walks his walks every day, walking out front with the older dogs, which when we had him as a puppy we honestly never thought he would be able to do, thats how far he has come. He's something of a celebrity in the village and loves it when people stop for a fuss.
The most important thing to stress is that Snow is a very normal young collie, full of fun and energy, yes he has his sight issues but he owns them, he knows no different and it doesnt stop him playing, walking or looking for a fuss. We have been blown away by how well this young dog has adapted to life and how content he is.
He really is a special little guy
