We're sad to see Chilli back and her family are devastated but had no choice. At the moment she's finding things a little bit strange but more updates over the coming days as she settles more.

This gorgeous girl has come to stay with me and arrived yesterday so she's still finding her paws <3 It's really, really obvious that she has been so loved and looked after - I know her family are devestated.
She arrived yesterday afternoon and took herself straight out into the garden for a sniff before going and barking by the front door. I decided to take her to stretch her legs, in case that's what she was asking for and it looks like it was! She sat beautifully and lifted each paw into her harness herself angel.gif and we set off for a little stroll. She walks wonderfully on the lead and is very used to walking in her harness - she pottered along next to me, sniffing sniffs and even wagged her little tail a bit too :-*
When we got home she decided she wanted to stay in the hallway rather than join us in the living room so I put her bed at the bottom of the stairs and before long she curled up in it for a snooze. She picked at her dinner and then went back to sleep for the rest of the evening, choosing to stay out in the hallway, although she did poke her head into the living room once before taking herself back to bed.
At bedtime, she allowed me to walk her gently into the garden where she did her business, had a mooch around the living room and then took herself back to bed in the hallway. I gave her a dentalstick (which she devoured :D) and went to bed. I shut myself in the bedroom and my dogs in the living room, giving Chilli the run of the rest of the house and the little angel was still fast asleep in her bed when I got up at 8.30 this morning. She happily went into the garden herself to go the toilet and then wolfed down her whole bowl of breakfast. Shortly after breakfast my partner got home from his night shift and as soon as he walked in the door, Chilli went straight to him jumping up for a fuss and wagging her tail :) <3
Chilli joined my two resident dogs on our walk this morning and what a transformation when we left the house! She was on an extending lead this time, and again walked beautifully with no pulling what so ever. She had a wonderful time splashing through puddles and getting super muddy :) On the walk we met up with Chilli's brother, Tasty Tot Liquie who lives nearby, and although I'm not sure they recognised each other, Liquie was quite interested in Chilli and after an initial telling off Chilli pretty much ignored him as long as he kept his distance! While on our walk she finally took treats from me, even sitting for them and doing lots of talking to convince me to hand them over ;) She takes food very gently from the hand.
Chilli is quite selective with other dogs, after a bad experience with a dog when she was a pup. She lived happily with another dog in her previous home who she was raised with from a puppy and is tolerating my boys who are calm and antisocial dogs who aren't the least bit interested in interacting with her. She is telling them off if they approach her but it's understandable that she would be feeling quite unsettled at the moment. It's very early days yet and this is all very strange to her, so we will monitor her and update as time goes on.
Chilli is a wonderful girl, who is just a bit confused at the moment. She is going to need a patient home where she can come around in her own time. If Chilli where to go to a home with another dog, they would need to be a confident, calm and steady dog and her new family would need to be prepared to work with her and expect some grumbles and disagreements initially. She may be able to live happily as an only dog in a quiet home where she wasn't left alone too much, but we will continue to asses her and update on this in time as we get to know her better. One thing is clear though, this lady is going to be so rewarding to share a home with. Watching her blossom is going to be a joy!

Chilli's been with for a few days now, and watching her relax and start to let her personality out is the most rewarding experience. After being in a very loving home from a puppy, finding herself in a new place was quite bewildering at first but the way she's adapted is remarkable and speaks volumes about her wonderful character.
In my last update Chilli was spending most of her time in her bed in our hallway, and other than poking her head around the living room door once, that was pretty much where she spent most of her time. We left her to it for the first few days, giving her time to soak in her new surrounds & we then had a little reshuffle to encourage her to integrate more and it's made the world of difference! We've moved her bed into the living room but set up another little bed in the cubby hole space under our stairs, so that she still has a quiet and safe space to retreat to if she feels she needs some time out. The change has done her the world of good - she's now spending a lot of the day in the living room with us, retreating to the bed under the stairs for breaks from us all every now and then! She's even made it up onto the sofa for a snooze a couple of times angel.gif
Chilli has been 100% clean and dry in the house since she arrived and hasn't made a peep once throughout the night. She is still sleeping in the hallway, with run of the house (except the living room where the resident pooches are sleeping, to give her a break from them) and she is very happy with that set up. She is always still in her bed when I get up in the morning and is quite happy to re-join the resident dogs after eating her breakfast in the peace and quiet of the kitchen. She eats well, but isn't greedy at all and will leave food in the bowl if she's not hungry.
Chilli doesn't like to be shut in anywhere (i.e. if I was to put her in the living room, shutting the door behind me) and will bark if left confined to one room, but that hasn't been an issue for us. She can be 100% trusted to be left with access to whole house unsupervised and that's how she's happiest - she's fully housetrained, not even remotely destructive and not interested in anything she shouldn't be getting into. So far, she hasn't even shown any interest in venturing upstairs. She can happily be left for a few hours a day (but no more than 4 in any one day in line with our adoption conditions). She is a bit of a vocal girl at times, barking if she can hear another dog or commotion outside, or if someone knocks on the door. It's not excessive and if ignored she stops after a minute or two but is just something to be aware of.
As time goes by, Chilli is getting on much better with the other dogs in the house. For the first day or two she was a little snappy with them whenever they went near her but that gradually reduced to the point where she is now ignoring them pretty much all the time. She will still have grumble at foster sister Winnie but she can't really be blamed for that as Winnie is a playful and energetic girl who can be a bit full on at times & is do desperate to be friends! Based on our assessment of Chilli so far, she seems to respond well to sharing her home with calm, steady dogs who she can draw confidence from but who will leave her be most of the time. She would like a home with a dog she can learn from, but it would need to be a confident, well grounded dog who doesn't mind some tellings off initially with a family prepared for them not to hit it off instantly. I feel that Chilli would be happy as an only dog, although her new family would need to be around most of the time and must be prepared for her to take time to settle in to life on her own.
The longer Chilli is with us, the more she begins to seek out our company and affection - it's been a joy to bond with her and earn her trust - the feeling I get when she approaches me and asks for a fuss is indescribable and she has had me in tears of joy more than once she arrived.
If you have space in your heart for a wonderfully loving, incredibly affectionate sweetheart of a dog then please put in application using the link in the original post of this thread. Chilli will need time and patience to come around in a new home but I can promise you the reward will tenfold outweigh the time and effort. She is one special, special lady <3

This girl continues to amaze me every single day. I slept in a bit late this morning & woke up to the floor boards creaking on the landing - when I went to investigate I found Miss Chilli had made her way upstairs for the first time and was having a little mooch around angel.gif When I opened the bedroom door I was greeted with the biggest grin and waggliest tail I've ever seen <3 she sauntered past me and climbed into bed with my other half (who amazingly welcomed her with a hug - so much for the no fosters on the bed rule haha ) and when I sat down next to her she treated me to a big kiss on the nose :-* what a wonderful way to start the day!
Here are a couple of pictures from our walk yesterday - I took Chilli separate from the other dogs to give her some 1-1 attention and we met up with her brother Liquie again. There where no grumbles this time and Chilli pretty much ignored him the whole time, although she was thrilled to see Liquie's owner Karima & did lots of play bows and zoomies :) Chilli loves her walks, they are definitely the highlight of her day!

Gorgeous Chilli has been with me for a week now, and the transformation she's made in that time is quite amazing. She's gone from being painfully shy and pretty much staying in her bed all day long, to being much more willing to integrate without coaxing.
She is now completely ignoring my two resident dogs, I can't remember the last time she had a disagreement with either of them. She'll even let them sniff her without any reaction whatsoever :o Relations with my other foster baby Winnie are taking a little longer as Winnie is a little more bouncy than the boys, but they are making huge strides - Chilli even let Winnie share her bed under the stairs for a nap last night - unthinkable even 48 hours ago!
The more Chilli is relaxing, the more vocal she's becoming - both in play & when letting us know somethings up ;) if it's time for food or walkies she makes sure she lets us know about it haha! She will bark if there's someone at the door but usually settles once she gets to see who's there.
Chilli has so much to offer to a family willing to give her the time and effort she needs to overcome her fears <3 she will need ongoing work, in particular with socialisation with other dogs in order to learn how to greet dogs polite and socialise with them.
Aside from her fear related issues with other dogs, Chilli is a delight. There is something so soulful about her eyes, I can't quite explain it but she captured my heart within minutes of meeting her and I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way. She is a remarkable girl, so willing to learn and desperate to please and receive affection. Her tail wags more and more each day & it's joy to watch xx

I can't believe Chilli has been with us for two weeks already - I actually had to check to make sure that was correct as it feels like so much longer! I've just had a read back through my previous updates, and I can barely remember the terrified lady who wouldn't set foot in the living room. She's come such a long way in such a short time.
Chilli's most favourite place is still her hideaway under the stairs & that's generally where you can find her, but she will mooch around the house, checking in with me every so often of her own volition to say hello & get a fuss. She has developed the loveliest bond with my partner, and if he's home she is guaranteed to be by his side, even waiting outside the bathroom for him! He works night shifts and Chilli has even been allowed to snooze in the bed with him throughout the day which she absolutely loves (a rare privilege usually only reserved for our boys!). She's always so overjoyed to see him, it's wonderful to see!
She's an active girl and is happiest with two long walks a day, she just loves being outside and exploring. She will definitely let you know when she's ready for another walk with lots of talking by the front door! She never pulls on the lead and walks brilliantly wearing her harness. She does have a bit of a habit of barking at me once she realises I have treats in my pocket but is improving with this every day - by me ignoring her until she stops barking, and then giving her the treat once she is quiet with all four paws on the ground, she is very quickly learning that shouting at me doesn't get what she wants ;D
As mentioned in previous updates, Chilli is very selective with other dogs after being attacked as a youngster. She is quite reactive to the majority of dogs she comes across while out on walks - we are working with her on this but it is something that will be ongoing and require work in her forever home - we think she would benefit greatly from attending behaviour/socialisation classes. If I spot a dog before Chilli does, I move off to the side and keep her busy with treats, getting her to 'sit', 'give paw' and catch treats with lots of talking and praise - generally, while I'm interacting with her and keeping her busy she will completely ignore the other dogs as they walk past us as what we're doing is far more interesting.
In the house, Chilli couldn't be less bothered by my two resident dogs - they're not interested in her at all and that's how she likes it! She has clearly learnt they're no threat to her and she's quite happy for them to be around. She's even developed a bit of a relationship with my other foster baby Winnie - which is very sweet, considering their rocky start. Initially, Winnie was far too bouncy for Chilli's liking but they seem to have reached a bit of a compromise so while Winnie is generally very polite whenever Chilli's around now, Chilli will also put up with Winnie when she forgets their truce and tries to clean Chilli's teeth police.gif
We've had a few visiting dogs over the past week so have had the opportunity to introduce Chilli to different sizes and temperaments of dog - she definitely is more comfortable with dogs smaller than her - the calmer the better. We have a very, very chilled out Cavashon at the moment who, like the resident dogs, has no interest in her at all and so far Chilli hasn't even grumbled at him once. But previously we had a two young dogs, around 18 months old who where non stop play most of the day and Chilli couldn't stand that - we had to keep them separate as they where far too much for her. A baby gate covered with a blanket did the trick so she couldn't see them (as even with the barrier between them Chilli was not happy about being able to see them).
With the right dog, given sensible introductions Chilli could share a home with another dog very happily - as mentioned before an older, calm & chilled out dog who's not interested in much play could be a fabulous companion for her but equally, she could be happy as an only dog given time to adjust to the change.
We are looking for an adult only home for Chilli - she finds too much noise or activity unsettling so would be happiest living without children around.
Chilli is still sleeping peacefully with the run of the house, she's got a choice of beds - one downstairs and one upstairs on the landing (spoilt much ;D) & is happy with this arrangement. She usually starts off downstairs and by the time I get up she's moved up to her bed outside our room. The only time we've ever heard from her in the night is when we've had storms as the poor thing does find heavy rain/wind unsettling so she had a bit of a bark. After taking her back to bed and settling her back in without giving her too much fuss, she soon went quiet and we've had actually had two stormy nights over the last few days where the only sound Chilli made was snoring :D such fantastic progress for her!

She is endlessly loving and affectionate, so well behaved and willing to learn new things. She needs a special home able to understand her needs and help her learn new things really aren't all that scary - I can guarantee you will be rewarded tenfold, with the most loyal friend for life <3 More updates to follow :)

I'm loving reading about Chilli's progress, she's doing so well and learning that not everything is scary. To sleep through heavy rain when previously it's freaked her out so much is brilliant. Clever girl Chilli, it shows how secure she's starting to feel angel.gif

Chilli is becoming more playful the longer she's with us, I woke up the other morning to find her patiently waiting on the landing, ready to play with her favourite squeaky tennis ball!

Chilli is still being so patient, waiting for her forever family to find her. She has come on such a long way while in foster with us, her confidence is growing every day and it's a joy to watch her become more and more secure.
The biggest change has been her interaction with the other dogs in our house. She's been brilliant with my two resident dogs from day one, but it took a little longer with foster baby Winnie. She was just a little too bouncy and full on for Chilli's liking but by the time Winnie left for her new home yesterday, they had developed a sweet bond & I really think Chilli is missing a her a bit today :( We've had a few different dogs coming and going over the past week or so, and Chilli has amazed me with her tolerance. If the dog is smaller than her and calm in nature, she's quite happy to ignore them. There may be the odd grumble here and there if they overstep her comfort zone but compared to her first week with us, there is a drastic difference.
Originally, Chilli had a bit of a dislike for play & would tell off the other dogs if they started doing zoomies in the house/garden or if they where playing with toys police.gif but with minimal input from us, she has come on leaps and bounds. She has attempted to get my Dizzy dog to play several times (it didn't go down too well with Dizzy, but Chilli was very polite about it!). To my utter amazement, Chilli has not only allowed Winnie to take a toy off her on several occasions, that she was playing with - she then stood by with a wagging tail while Winnie leapt around throwing the toy in the air. All these incredible improvements are testament to her wonderful character & just go to show that given time and patience, she will adapt and settle in a new environment.
Chilli is also becoming a lot more playful in herself - she absolutely loves anything that squeaks and will hunt out her favourite squeaky tennis balls in a pile of toys & then carry it around with her for hours! Every now and then she'll bring toy over to me for me to throw for her & she leaps after it like a pup <3
Out of the house is still a work in progress, and will be an ongoing journey for Chilli. She is an active girl who ideally needs two good walks a day. She walks beautifully on the lead and loves exploring, but as mentioned in previous updates finds it scary meeting other dogs so she responds with barking. Distraction with toys or treats works really well and interacting with her in a positive way keeps her busy enough for the dog to pass without a problem. She has no problem at all with passing traffic and cars going by don't bother at all, but she's less keen on motorbikes. We're working with her every day & none of this takes away from the enjoyment of seeing her leap around exploring and zooming - she is never happier than when she's on walks!
Hopefully it won't be long until Chilli's forever family find her, so she can get on with enjoying life in her new home. She has so much love to give <3 xx

Chilli's began to let her playful side out & it's wonderful to see! Up until now she's only really carried toys around her mouth, not doing much with them but she's really starting to play properly now angel.gif For the first time she grabbed a toy that wasn't one of hers (much to Dizzy's dismay!)

She's also beginning to spend most of her time with us in the living room, instead of upstairs or in her under the stairs cubby hole :) It's so wonderful when she seeks us out for attention or play, which she is doing more and more regularly. She's spent her afternoon sunning herself on the deck, coming in for a snooze in the living room to cool off every now and then <3

I can't believe this girl is still waiting! As much as we adore having her here, she's so ready to move on and start the next chapter of her life in her forever home. She's doing so well & has adapted remarkably well to change. She's 100% clean in the house no matter what, sleeps quietly at night and is happy to be left for a few hours a day. In the house she is no trouble what so ever, calm & endlessly affectionate, it is such a joy to have her around.
Out on walks she is making leaps and bounds every single day. Although she's not keen on meeting new dogs & isn't a fan of bikes or joggers she is responding unbelievably well to positive interaction and distraction - she will not react at all if she is kept busy with treats or a squeaky toy so her daily walks are loads of fun and not all difficult to manage.
She is such a water baby, she dives for puddles & streams as soon as she sees them :) Here she is enjoying a paddle with brother Liquie the other day:

After a walk Chilli will sleep for hours! Her favourite places are either out in the garden in the sunny spot, or the peace & quiet of the landing upstairs :)

I can't believe this lady is still waiting for her forever home! She's come such a long way since she first arrived, I'm so proud of the progress she's made. Her confidence has grown tenfold & the changes in her interaction with other dogs, particularly this past week has just blown me away.
We've had a number of dogs coming and going at the house this week & Chilli has coped astoundingly well. She's normally particularly unhappy with dogs bigger than her or really bouncy in your face dogs - well this week we've had two labs (one of which was twice her size) and a really over the top pup. Chilli has been a star! There have been some grumbles, when the other dogs have tried to invade her space or entice her to play, but 90% of the time she has just calmly ignored them with no reaction what so ever. It so goes to show that with time and patience, she will learn when new dogs are no threat to her at all.
I really hope Chilli's forever home comes along soon - she is so ready to start the next chapter of her life in a home she will be in forever. No one deserves it more than she does <3

Chilli is still waiting for her forever family to find her, and is continuing to amaze me every day she's in foster with us <3
She's becoming more and more playful every day, she's particularly taken with our other foster baby Dylan. She's been trying to coax him to play for a few days now. Every time she interacts with him it brings a huge smile to my face, remembering the shy & scared girl who arrived with me just over a month ago who wanted nothing to do with other dogs at all.
This was her a couple of days ago, tentatively trying to get Dyl to play but you can see in her face she's not too sure:

I haven't updated in a week or so, so just thought I'd check in on Miss Chilli's progress :D I am amazed this girl hasn't found her forever home yet! She has come on leaps & bounds and is barely recognisable as the dog who first arrived with me.
Her progress with other dogs is astounding. With very little input from us she's figured out that other dogs really aren't that scary at all. She bonded hugely with foster brother Dylan and I know she'll miss him loads now he's gone to his forever home. It's amazing how well she's adapted from not really liking any dogs at all, to accepting every dog that has come into our home. We've had two new arrivals today, one of which is much bigger than Chilli & the other being a bouncy young thing and she has been great with both of them. Not even a growl, when one really wouldn't have been out of place!! She will show her teeth sometimes as a little warning if a dog is bugging her too much, but its barely even 1% of the struggle she had initially.
She's being doing so well, we felt confident to let her offlead for the first time today. I know she was walked on & offlead in her previous home, but I haven't felt able to do that yet as we usually walk in an area that can be busy, where a dog or a bike could appear from multiple directions Well today, I was so proud I could burst! Chill was an angel angel.gif she didn't venture far from us and responded to being called brilliantly. At one point, a dog was headed towards us on the path and without reaction Chilli returned to my side and allowed me to put the lead on her. She sat and took treats off me, letting the dog pass without a backward glance. angel.gif
She was thrilled to be allowed offlead, and made the most of zoomies! Did you ever see a happier dog? :D

We had to travel in the car to get to our walk today - it's the first time we've taken her in the car and she was brilliant. She sat in the back seat with my two resident dogs and was really well behaved. She did bark a bit out of excitement, especially when my Caleb stated yapping away when he recognised where he was going! She didn't seem to find it stressful at all :)

Chilli is a water baby through & through - she loves nothing more than going for a dip and will make a beeline for any water she sees! It's lovely to see her splashing around <3

She's pretty convinced she's a lap dog & will not be told she's a little too big ;) She rarely makes an attempt to get on the sofa, preferring a dog bed or the floor but if my other half is around you can guarantee she will try and get on his lap (she is smitten with him!) She is so incredibly affectionate and never happier than when she's getting fuss:
