Scrappy is a 7½ year old Springer Spaniel (DOB 1/5/2010) who is currently in foster care.
Here is what our volunteer assessor had to say:
I just got back from the assessment and absolutely feel in love with Scrappy! He’s a lovely, energetic boy. He was very excited to see me and came straight over for a fuss and a belly rub. He ran around like a puppy I didn’t believe that he was nearly 8! He lives with children and cats and is great with both, he even goes for walks with the cat sometimes!
Scrappy loves a long walk and his favourite thing to do is to charge about into bushes and muddy puddles. He’s not used to spending much time on the lead so does pull and his recall isn’t great! But he loves his treats and is eager to please (he showed me his best sits when the treats came out) so this could be worked on.
Scrappy would probably prefer to be the only dog as he isn’t very interested in other dogs and prefers to do his own thing. He gets a bit nervous if other dogs try to play but has never been aggressive he just runs away from them.
Although he’s an older dog he would still need an active home who will be able to let him off the lead when he’s out, however he is used to being home by himself during the day with no issues.
