About Bonnie
Bonnie is a ten month old collie/Spanish water dog mix. She is medium to large size (collie size -maybe a bit more leggy). She needs to come into our care after the rescue who brought her to the UK wasn’t able to provide rescue back-up. She is neutered and fully vaccinated/microchipped.
This is what her foster carer has to say about her:
Bonnie is bouncy and eager to please, she loves a game of tug, playing with her toys and most of all playing with my other ten month old pup.
She also likes to “help” in the garden and is a typical pup, needing to be kept busy & occupied so as not to get into mischief. She will need a secure garden.
Bonnie is mostly house trained but will still have a little accident if left or sometimes at night (very rare but may increase slightly in a new home). She hasn’t learnt to bark at the door yet but will stand by the back door.
At the moment she is living happily with a 4-year old male Springer/Poodle X and a small female terrier cross. With both of these she is submissive despite being bigger than them both but going forward we are ideally looking for a home where she would be the only dog.
Bonnie came from a busy kennel environment and as a result she can be worried by and react to other dogs when out and about - especially those that are bigger than her. We think this could be fairly easily resolved with the right input to help her through her issues. She may be able to live with a small, calm dog but otherwise we would recommend an only dog home. We can recommend a suitable trainer if needed. Bonnie’s new family would ideally have experience of helping dogs with similar issues - if you would like to apply to adopt Bonnie please include this information in your application.
She walks well on a lead and her recall is mostly good off a lead but she can be easily distracted.
At the moment she isn’t keen on the car and will need to be helped to gradually overcome this by doing short journeys – for this reason we will be looking to rehome her within an hour or less travelling time.
Bonnie is a sweet, clever girl and she could be a fantastic dog for agility or something similar as se loves to learn. She is very gentle and has lived happily with young children and would make a great family pet.
She hasn’t had the best of starts and deserves a fantastic forever home where she can blossom and fulfil her potential. Bonnie is not a suitable dog for inexperienced or first time owners.
